Keyboard Stores @ SG

Hi!

I am from Philippines and will be going there to Singapore for the first time :-D by April for a week. Googling around music stores @ SG, I found price/s of keys there are way much cheaper than ours here, about ~$300-$400 cheaper. So far, the stores I found are the ffg:

sweelee
city music
luthermusic
yamaha retail music stores

Can you give some insights on these stores? while these were the stores that I saw, I found most of my most of my lists at luthermusic. any feedback/s on this store?

I am currently looking for a DP. First on my list is casio PX320 found at luthermusic. second option might be korg sp-250 or kurz sp2x and finally a yamaha DP, but still finding out a model that suit my needs.

since most of you guys are "really" there, can you help me out which is which. i just want to have a "bird's eye view" on these stores before I do get there.

thank you very much.

*edit: if there is a thread relative to this, kindly refer me the link and delete this post. thanks.

Mabuhay, welcome to Singapore!

The stores you stated are distributor of these brands. Good thing is, Singapore is pretty small place, you probably have enough time to visit all these stores within 2 days.

sweelee - Roland
city music - Korg, Kurzweil
luthermusic - various brands
yamaha - Yamaha

thank you very much Boss/Admin for your hospitality. quite an irony because this is very different from our local forums here.

anyway, hope that I can pack this agenda for two days or less. im getting excited!!! woohoo!!!

thanks again.

Hi Sigjoys.

I am Raymond from Philippines.

I used to live in Singapore but currently in the Philippines.

You will be surprised how cheaper instruments in Singapore are.

You can also browse the classifieds section so you can contact sellers, for a much cheaper price.

I got my X8 there.

I also suggest that you go to stores that sell hard to find keys in Philippines. I forgot which store I saw Novation, Ensoniq, Kurzweill, etc. Will try to remember it.

By the way, just a reminder, there might be some airline restriction with regards the size of your keyboard. I suggest that you only get a maximum of 76 keys. Some airlines don't allow size of 88 keys. Better clarify this from your airline. That was my problem with my X8 then. I was forced ship it than bring it with me by plane.

Be prepared also with the excess baggage. As far as I can remember, Cebu Pacific is charging 12 SGD per excess kg, almost 360 pesos.

You can SMS me 09052265352.

Note: Baka sakaling makipabili sa iyo. Kung sakali will pay you extra. ;);););)

By the way, you can also check adpost.com.sg

Sometimes there are good deals there as well.

Note: pwede ka tumawad sa kanila. Ang ginagawa ko dati ay sinasabi ko na kung ibaba pa nila ng 30% ay kukunin ko na agad. Madalas, pumapayag sila

hi sir raymond!

thank you for giving me that info specifically the airline issue. nice to hear from a fellow pinoy like you.

i do saw your handle @ philmusic, selling/trading the notorious X8. I have the same handle at philmusic but not too much active. im really looking for a DP as another alternative to my tr76.

honestly, for a late bloomer like me (@30s), im just starting out to play the keys utilizing books to teach myself. currently, im getting and yearning myself to dig everything about playing piano, teaching myself to read music sheets, listening to classical and jazz, etc. while the TR suits all my sound needs it lacks many in terms of playing the piano properly. DP on the other hand will help me with my learning curve. my considerations, 1st, it must be 88 weighted/hammer action keys; 2nd is weight i need to haul it during practice and sunday service; and 3rd, sound - PX320 shoots in all of my needs.

while the X8 is really a huge WS, i think the PX320 is somewhat slightly larger that the TR76
TR76 - 1,258 (W) x 302 (D) x 95 (H) mm @ 9.2kg
PX320- 1,322 (W) × 278 (D) × 134 (H) mm @ 12kg
vs
X8 - 1,408 (W) x 455 (D) x 165 (H) mm @ @ ~30kg

hopefully and by faith, the airline will approve it.

speaking in tagalog...

btw, are you from VCF right?

.... resuming

i'll be texting you soon. i'm just on my break and will be resuming back to my study after this. thanks for the big help. God bless! Mabuhay to soft forums!

Pls do not forget about the GEM keyboards (model PRP800) that we we are also clearing. GEM keyboards are not very well known because they are made in ITALY. But coming from ITALY, they have a very authentic FAZIOLI piano sound. I'd buy the GEM for it's FAZIOLI!!!

Check this out ... it's a GEM RP-X module (we have that also)
