Hi,i'm new to the keyboard-DAW interaction scene.
I'm currently using a Korg M50 and i'm trying out a trial version of Ableton Live 8.
I would like to record a track from my m50 using Ableton Live as the recording software.
What tools do i need(Mixers,cables ect.) and what do i need to do to record from my M50?
Any help is greatly appreciated,thanks.

You need an audio interface. If you are on a tight budget and want to use the built-in soundcard from your desktop/notebook, you'll need to download ASIOforall driver to ensure low latency.

Connection will be:

m50 USB -> desktop/notebook USB (for midi)
m50 audio out -> audio interface/soundcard audio in
audio interface/soundcard audio out -> speakers/headphones

Two ways to go about this. You can play your m50 and record it live in your DAW. Or you can record midi (which makes it easier to edit mistakes). On playback, your DAW will trigger your m50 via midi. That means you use your DAW as the sequencer instead of your m50. If you would rather have your m50 as your sequencer, than can forget about connecting the USB between your m50 and computer. All you need to do is to hit the audio record and you'll be recording your sequenced track.
