Maybe its just me, but I *really* liked the Ampeg BA combos. Used the BA115 quite extensively and have a small BA110 at home.
It has a pretty good response and the preamp is really warm. I use it as a recording pre-amp for guitar sometimes =)
Playing live the BA115 is unbelievably loud and handles the low E and B fantastically. The low end on this thing is just right.
But of course, its way overpriced at the shop............
im in the same camp as jonhyz... practice amp ampeg ba112, home amps laney hc160 and ampeg ba115hp, gigging amps ba115 (w e tilt) and an old crate 50w. started out with a peavey 10w (too little power) and later a no brand 25w (wasnt much better than the peavey).
ampegs are excellent amps. i prefer them to the swrs n even trace elliots ive tried.
however, they are *ex*. my ba112 is 3rd hand, ba115 2nd hand. ouch.
gas - refer to zero_g's posti wld also like to try the ampeg portabass, or other concepts like tt where u can push your stuff around. carrying a 50-80lb amp around might literally break my back one day - and i dont wanna go there..
anything BUT Line6 amps! i've nothing bad to say about their PODs and other efx but say NO to Line6 bass amps!
lol. Bro, u tried before the line 6 amps? So lousy ah? Saw them at the Soft Bass forum. Actually i feel the modes and effects, fuctions seem ok. Seems like 1 out and 3 to go. lol.
