jumbofret's To-do list

nak: I have to learn more about the guitar industry and logistics in Japan... I know quite a great deal about the Western guitar market, but not my fatherland... I have to convince my dad that it is worth it (Will "psycho" him as much as I can)...

Also, I will prepare documents for interested parties to download and read. Will be very busy...

Hmm

jumbofret : I am interested to know where in Japan can I get Fender/Gibson guitars at cheaper rates. Pls keep me posted?

my old-time fren got his Gibson '56 LP Std Goldtop (no longer in production) in Japan (along a street which sells all guitars onli, like a guitar pasar malam) for $2.9 where Sg is selling $5k plus.

neuro182: For Fenders, I recommend Fender Japan. It's the number 1 guitar brand in the Japanese market, because of its sheer value-for-money.

For Gibson, I recommend Greco for LP copies.

However, if you are hell bent on getting Fender/Gibson from Japan, I will have to source for shops that are near my contacts... I cannot guarantee low prices... The guitar street you mentioned could be in some ultra-urban place ie Tokyo. I must find out about it from my dad and his friends. Be warned that there are fakes out there that are passed as vintage...

Thanks for the interest.

On another note, I bought a wireless 2-mic system yesterday from Sim Lim Tower. It's not from Enzer, though. Will keep you guys informed about my mod.

i dont mind a fake so long it's cheap

nah jk...

but i thought tokai would make better LP copies?

edit:Christopher Ammot of arch enemy uses it too!

so does michael romeo. haha

definitely very apealling to a metal guitarist. made for low tuning man!

and its Amott.. :p

I agree that Fender Japan gives huge value for money.. the japan YJM costs tons cheaper.. though its missing a hs-3

I think I'll be attending the SOFT 4th Monthly Meeting on Saturday. I will be there to introduce myself and discuss, explain etc. I should try to get my mod done soon so that I can bring it to the meeting... lol.

neuro182: I am not too sure about the market for wireless systems for guitars... My idea of the mod was to convert a wireless mic system to one that is compatible for guitars... Wireless mics are more common than the wireless kits for guitars/basses. I went down to Tampines to look for wireless mic systems, and Challenger had only one that was going at $20. But it had no specs, no brand, and I knew that it wouldn't be good.

tany: For MIJ LP copies, there are 3 famous brands out there: Tokai, Burny and Greco. Greco makes LP, Iceman and Zemaitis copies... And Fender Japan is a division within Greco!

Oh yes, I have a favour to ask. Do you guys know about the biggest guitar store in China? I remember Michael Angelo Batio visited it in 2004... I am leaving S'pore for Beijing, China next Friday. It's a training stint, and I hope to visit the store as well as climb the Great Wall of China!
