The Yuhua Youth Executive Committee will be organizing a National Day Concert to celebrate our YOUTHFUL SG in the Yuhua District.
This Concert will be a good opportunity to showcase the talent and achievements of our local youth. We will be having Celina Kimble, BeatAbox, Kai, Shifting Paradise, Yew Tee sisters Yu Lin and Yuqing, One Day Late, Capoeira and many other performers!
We will also be presenting the winners of our recent I Love Yuhua Photography competition.
Activities that you can take part in include face painting, balloon sculpturing, photo booth, hair lighlighting as well as learning about first aid!

Information about the performers:
1. Capoeira – Cantor Xango
Capoeira is a Brazilian Martial Art that combines the elements of Dance, Music and Acrobatics. Capoeira promotes Individual and Community values based on Respect, Co-operation and Freedom. It is a Social Integration tool, abolishing violence, discrimination and pre-conception, making friends and respecting all.
It is also a performing arts that combines elements of self-defense, acrobatics, dance, music, language, and culture all in one art form. Audience will be wow by the fluid movement, martial sequences, and challenging acrobatics performed to the energetic singing and clapping of spectators. For a more festive Brazilian feel, we will be more than glad to bring in our percussion partner who has a strong flare for Brazilian drums and musical instruments.
2. Tan Yuting’s Sisters
Tan Yulin and Tan Yuqing are members of TLQ which comprises three talented young sisters who love music. The eldest sister, Tan Yuting, will not be performing with them today as she is studying music in the USA. Yulin achieved ABRSM Grade 8 in Piano and Grade 7 in Singing. She also plays the drums and guitar. Yuqing attained ABRSM Grade 6 in Singing and Piano and is the lead singer in the group. Besides singing in Singapore, Yuqing was invited to sing at Genting Arena of Stars, Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur and Batam. She is also a mezzo-soprano singer with the Singapore Symphony Children's Choir and plays the Sheng with Christ Church Secondary School Chinese Orchestra. TLQ loves to share their passion for music, and have performed at many community, charity and corporate events.
3. Celina Kimble
Celina Kimble who is a singer songwriter herself had just released her latest single “Illusion” in February 2014. This infectious dance track reveals her new direction in music that includes new production values, new stories, and a new sound. Her latest EP also consist of five original songs written by her which vary from electronic pop to pop rock and features a track written by renown songwriter, Tat Tong. Few of her song such as ‘Illusion’, ‘Picture Perfect’ and “Remember’ have been selected and played on 98.7FM, Class 95 FM as well as Lush 99.5 FM. Celina was also a former mentee of the National Arts Council's Noise The Apprenticeship Program (TAP). She had performed in events such as the Noise showcase during the Youth Olympic Games 2010 and Esplanade’s Baybeats Festival 2010.
Love, relationships and heartbreak are a recurring theme in Celina's EP. "Despite the pain of losing someone special, Celina hope that her songs can reach out to comfort people going through a difficult season in their life and know that they are not alone." Since her sold out EP launch at Playden, Arts House, she was also awarded ‘New Artist & Songwriter of the Month’ for the month of June 2014 by National Critics Choice. To promote her latest release, she will be performing at Starbucks in the month of August & September. Her EP is now available on iTunes & CDbaby.com internationally from 8 June 2014.
4. Kai
Kai is a local beatboxer, singer-songwriter, live-looping artist, and member of Singaporean a cappella group Vocaluptuous. He first began his foray into beatboxing in 2007, and has since competed, performed, and taught his craft both locally and internationally. Kai independently released his solo debut indie-folk/pop Beginnings EP in May 2014 to praise from regional sites such as Popspoken, The Smart Local, and Power of Pop, as well as veterans of the indie music scene including Kevin Mathews and Amanda Tee. Kai has been invited to perform at the upcoming Y2K14 International Live Looping Festival in California, USA, as a Featured Artist during the main festival, and in a select pre-festival concert entitled "Best of the Fest", an honour which has only been accorded to one other Singaporean in the entire history of the festival. When not onstage, Kai is an undergraduate student at the National University of Singapore pursuing a degree in medicine.
5. Shifting Paradise
Shifting Paradise is a pop-rock band that is largely influenced by bands such as Paramore, Fallout boy, and simple plan, to name a few. We love to explore how to make tunes our own as much as we can, and are currently in the midst of writing our own music. This performance, we will be going unplugged and we hope the audience would enjoy our music!
6. Beat’ABox Group
Beat’ABox Group is a social enterprise which was founded and started by a group of young people who use music as a driving force to bring positive solution to the needy, heighten joyful vibrancy of life in Singapore and to develop leadership and entrepreneurial ability and active citizenry especially among young people. Their activities are divided into three main areas: Education, Arts and Community.
7. Gary Tan
Started in 2013, Gary has performed at comedy shows, both in Singapore and overseas such as Hong Kong, where he has worked with various comedians from Comedy.HK. His act is being described as unique, self deprecating with a slight twist of dark humor. His act for the day will be trying to figure out what makes him a proud Singaporean.
