i was watching the joe satriani live in san francisco dvd quite sometime back and saw something funny. he uses seymour duncans on his newer chrome js guitar. not the chromeboy, with lots of clear tape, but the newer sibling! i watched again to confirm just now.

u slow down on the 1st track of the dvd, which is 'time', at abt 3.03. when the camera zoom into his picking hand, look closely at the bridge p/u. u can see the white 'seymour duncan' name on the pickup! its definitely not dimarzio, coz dimarzio is one word. and they don't paint dimarzio in white on the p/u, this is two words, something like '------- ------'.

i might be wrong and most probably be beaten up by js lovers who uses fred! but please someone take a look!

Its prob coz Joe wants to have a guitar like old Pearly, his previous Chrome Boy with Duncans. Pearly was stolen.

Anyway, Joe played a Les Paul guitar on Les Paul's 90th birthday bash. He played Satch Boogie on it.

Yup, i remember that one. Pearly Gates pickups in there. If i'm not mistaken that very guitar got stolen. He also uses that guitar on the song "Rubina".

Hold on... Live in SF was quite some time ago... I don't know when Pearly was stolen but maybe that was her.

The newer Chromeboys were only released this year.

I have a feeling that was her. Cos after Pearly Gates there wasn't any more talk about Joe using SDs.

Satriani has always been a closet admirer of the Duncan Pearly Gates. this is a mark of a true tone fan- one who isn't letting his endorsement deal with a particular brand name, get in the way of admiring something which he really likes. hats off to Satch...
