I just love Job For A Cowboy, even though i know of little people who know much about them here in Singapore.
I heard that the album will be totally different in style than their previous Well, the news was right, it's devoid of the -core elements, breakdowns, riffs that try (and fail) to sound br00tal, bree abuse, etc. Genesis is much more a semi-technical, modern sounding death metal album. More sophisticated than anything they've released before, it's like they've found the right way to do it. So I played it a few times, and found it better and better with every listen.
The core elements still exist here, but it has loss out on a few + points, the brutality has been cut down much for the Doom (EP)
Try Genesis if you're a death metal fan, but in this case you might not like their previous stuff. If you liked Doom and the demo, you might lose interest in the new album, but I think it's still worth a try. Not recommended for narrow minded people!
This band will definetly leave it's mark in the history of extreme metal (maybe they already have?) they've popularized deathcore and bulit up a HUGE fanbase, then changed their style to straight-up death metal and even play it good, and with a distinctive stlye and sound. All I can say is wow... (+ points for the weird name and bovine-skull obsession)

Release Date: 18 May 2007

8.5/10

haha, actually there are quite a lot of JFAC fans here really. Yeah, new album is different - sadly a lot less of the bree-bree pig squeals which I went crazy for when I listened to their demo. Good general review, but could have mentioned more about their tracks.

I think most metalheads secretly love JFAC, they just don't express their love loud enough. Either that or no JFAC tshirts available in peninsula for them to buy and wear, haha!
