does anyone know which one has got the tone variation from soft rock to heavy metal? and does the sound go crackling when volume is cranked up? i've got a marshall guv'nor, which sounds sweet n powerful if the amp volume is not high. but whenever i crank up the volume, the distortion is like breaking and cracking. so just wondering which pedal is most versatile of all...

JNH is most versatile in ur 3 list. it has the EQ knob that can go all out from classic rock to blues to heavy metal.

tany nailed it. The JNH Is one of the my fav ever pedals, though it cant compete with a skreddy screwdriver or blackstone Overdrive...

Its rather okay. Affordable and versatile. the sound is not bad either

mods not very sure, but dont think a rat can do those heavy metal stuff.

if ur into super high gain, like death metal, heavy metal, punk(yucks), hard rock, etc. consider the landmine pedal, although it's only fixed high gain, but the controls are super versatile, can give lots of tones. nice design too.

haha...no punk here too...
k...i'll check out landmine...thanx....
i've got JnH actually, but its od sux! so freaking bassy! the distortion is a bit hi-pitch is i crank up the drive.

hahaha punk! but some punk are nice, gotta admit...

the od for jnh i personally kinda like it, prefer a bassy ts than the original one. but i find it works better wif single coils.

but dont get the jnh for now, look for other stuff. u can check out the krank distortion maximus from TYMusic. looks nice.

i actually prefer bad monkey to JnH's od....sounds better...
maybe i'll experiment a bit more on JnH first since i've already gotten it :)
the krank distortion maximus...sounds like heavy metal or death metal kinda distortion...i'm looking for daita (siam shade), to paul gilbert/richie kotzen or even nuno kinda distortion....

Alot ppl would be picky with this pedal but I'd say, Uber Metal.

Yes you can get insane distortion with this but you can tame it down for soft rock. And it definitely sounds good even @ loud volumes.

hmm...uber metal...i've listened to some sound clips...really heavy sound....

n not only that....it weighs nearly the same as a crybaby!!!how to bring to studio???haha....

I have tried all 3 and I personally like RAT the most.

I have one for nailing a creamy, fuzzy classic rock distortion. I also like to play lead with the RAT as it has tonnes of sustain.

Maybe you could head down Ebenex to try the pedals out, when I went there last week they still have JnH and RAT, no idea if crunchbox have been restocked.

yes yes...sustain is wat i need as well....to play lead....
JnH doesn't hav enuf sustain...or maybe i haven't experimented enuf of it yet....

try the tonebone classic for richie kotzen tones! great pedal. for paul gilbert tones, i still trying to get, but closest i had was the landmine distortion.

crunchbox can get u nice marshall crunch sounds. good too.

yeah dude! Uber Metal! turn the drive down, and dial down the scoop knob, and you'll get something raw in between an OD and a dist.

the versatility is there for something at its price range.. im letting it go for 120 right now. haha sorry had to add this info but ask anyone that uses that pedal, they'll say the same thing abt its versatility and how heavy it can go. besides, it comes with its own gate control.

i tried the JnH and i must admit imho, i think Uber Metal owns it.
