Jazz...learnt or talent?

how can talk about 1,4,5 progression, changing multiple keys, and such if you don't know about theory in the first place? Don't you think you contradict yourself?

There are 24 fret multiply by 6 string combination of note each time to press. How would you know which one to press without any theory?

i did say i know some theory, read properly leh...

yes there are people who can only play 3 chords.. C , G and most probably Em. does that mean they know theory?
its like only knowing how to start a car's engine , then telling everyone you can drive.

1,4,5

Hey ChanMin, waddup man, long time never see you in the studio.

Jazz..... industry musicians have a joke about it, when playing live, you make a mistake, just make it off as a jazz chord.

But there was a debate in my mind as to whether jazz is free form or structured. After talking to music heavies, jazz is a very structured piece of music, hence the need for music theory. You have to know the song to play it properly with other musicians as there are many many accents here and there.

Those who have talent in music should be able to play everything and make it sound good. Whereas there are those who just learn and learn and wonder why the same solo dont make people cry...dynamics man.

I dont wish to get into a debate with anyone over this, so before u start lashing out with Cb chords (yes it does exist but not in 440), at the end of the day, its the tasty music that wins. jazz or no jazz.
