Just a bit of information from me to you:
I am a Jazz/Latin Jazz and Big Band vocalist and percussionist and during
my posting in Singapore with the Royal Air Force (1963/65), I used to sing
with some Filipino musicians at the Golden Venus bar/club on Orchard Road.
The band leader was Ernesto Deroya who had married into the Suliano family.
My stage name, during those years in Singapore was Lance Raymond.
The Suliano family also had members playing in KL, where I did some recording
with the Suliano Band for Radio Malaysia. One member of the family in Singapore
was Louis Suliano who played drums, at an early age of 16 or 17 and was great.
Ernesto and Louis were members of the Radio/TV Malaysia Singapura recording
band when I did a few shows on Radio and TV in Singapore in the years 1963/65.
I have some photographs of the shows that I recorded in Singapore and also
photographs of me with the Ernesto Deroya Band in the Golden Venus bar/club.
I could make these available to any of the band members currently playing at the
Miramar Hotel or Harrys' Bar, to see if they are known by any band members of
those two venues.
If any of you musicians have friends or family members that know the musicians
mentioned, could you please give me a contact point for me to forward the
PICKS and more information.
