Japanese Strat: Fender or Greco or Tokai

Hi,

Im looking for a Jap strat and was wondering if the greco supersound is a gd buy for abt 600+? Im more keen on a Fender MIJ, but was thinking if anyone has any experience with Greco or Tokai strats?

Are they as gd in terms of quality and tone? Or do i have to change the pups and other stuffs later? Do they use gd quality woods, or some cheapo stuff?

I know of some "cult" following of tokai and greco... But i dont know if they are as gd as a MIJ Fender, or at least not too far behind.

Hmm, my point of view, just get a fender... these copies can go as close as a fender... but a fender is what people these people are trying to copy... why buy pirated when you can get original, at same price?

What are you looking for? Firsthand or secondhands?

I think the condition of the guitar also plays an important aspect here.

the greco ones i think are from the eighties... Its a greco supersound...

I am looking for the 50,60,70 reissue for MIJ. I played on a st-43, and i felt that its not v gd at stock... Also the size is smaller than the regular strat.

Where can i get a MIJ strat anyone?

1st or 2nd hand also can... as long as the price is rite... Value for money

well you can try the classic models, otherwise the mexican ones would be a good buy, and no mexican made fenders are not lower compared to the other makes...

I heard the Mex ones are really sucky... I tried one b4, and wasnt all that impressed... But that was when i wasn't a strat fan

mex strats are indeed better than those jap ones if you ask me, but hey, its all about personel preference right? if mex strats, i think you should go for the floyd rose models... cause that was the only one i'd ever tried...

oh.. i prefer the MIJ strats... Personally, they have better feel and quality is better.

I passed on a Mex Floyd Rose strat for 700+ i think... Not a MIM fan

i prefer mij fender stuff as well. the instruments tend to show more attention to detail compared to the mex strats, and some of the reissues look, sound and feel better than american ones.

Go for new MIJ fender. Join mr Stars' mass order. For about $1000 you can choose your dream fender. MIJ/CIJ Fender are very good lately. I'd love to have a Aerodyne one myself, but i'm just too broke now

lol brother popeye. ca join in what ? , probably ordering around aug/ late august ? feel free to contact me

get mij strat. i never regretted it. heh. think can join in the mass order as above and get it at a pretty good price. i've got the 57' RI and its been a sweet axe so far. cheers!

well , so far i think MIJ still kicks ass... mine is holding up pretty well ..
ive tried MIJ,MIM and MIA ... american is still kickass.... cannot compare with the other two

mexican however .. i feel loses out to mij. Ive tried quite a few...some really feel sucky ( and at that time i didnt even know there was mij )

overall mij wins - due to their high quality and low prices. mine has an awesome finish too.

if there are 4 orders on the MO , i would reopen it

MO currently has 2, one more pending

1) stars - aerodyne jazz bass
2)renquan- fender Jazz bass
3) - fender 62 " tele

ya keen on joining ?

I'm holding on to my MIM 70's reissue.
definitly not as bad as what ppl perceive of MIM Fender. check it out

well well, construction quality wise greco will be the same as fender japan, since greco made fender japan guitars..... Fujigen's brand name for their own guitars is GRECO.

anyone interested in MIJ Tele and Strat? I am selling mine in the classifieds.

I tried a Greco Strat once. It's good. The workmanship is very good. Problem is, hard to find one that is still in good condition or in it's original state...
