jumbofret: ha! you are right. it's very hard. coz i think the market here not that mature yet. and singaporeans (myself included) we are less of a risk taker. i feel. (patriots, please don't stone me...). i only dare to try.
take davies as an example. it's quite clear cut that the Tokais hanging there are much better than epi and some gibson (not all lah, but jumbofret i know you will disagree with me
), but i read somewhere in this forum that davies is no longer bringing more because it's not selling?
brundisium:
you really have a point there about the guitar collectors. and i think somehow it will slightly disadvantage younger generations like us within this forum.
to off set this, we really have to dare to try (don't let the saleman's stare stop you!) and be objective. have to shift out of the "branding" paradigm and be honest with ourselves what we really like and want. this way we don't have to care about whether Gibson is better or lawsuits are better. you know you bought something you like.
well, whoever reads this and finally thinks that there is no harm trying, this is where you will find lawsuits (from the last I saw):
Tokai: Davies, Guitar Connection
Burny: Yamaha, sometimes Luther?, orangeguitar.com
Orville: orangeguitar.com
Greco: Guitar connection, orangeguitar.com
not against originals, but pro lawsuit
