Mex 60th Anniversary Strat:

*there are more positive points pertaining to this model namely due to:
-great craftsmanship leading to superb feel; a very different standard from the other mex models
-above-average default pickups

could be improved:
-bridge saddles: protruding screws
-some nut (incision) issues, to affecting the entire production of course...

the point of jap fenders not being fenders, is cos FMIC do not have factories there.

as you know, gibson fans do not consider 'orville by gibson' real gibsons, due to them not being made by gibson.
likewise, the same could be said for the jap fenders.

the Jap Fenders are legal Fenders, they are not subsidiaries of any kind, unlike other brand names which would tag their products 'XXX by Gibson' for instance (no offence to Gibson, i own 2...). this is the point i'm trying to put through; a legal standpoint, nothing to do with worthiness pertaining to the real manufacturer having a plant & doing things themselves, offshore.

Ibanez has given legal authorization to Korea's World Music to manufacture their Prestige (S/ SA/ SZ) models (among others); are these then not real Ibanez?

a fan's authority has nuts to do with whether a product is legit or otherwise. we surely know Orvilles weren't Gibsons...

Just take em as similar type from two diff manufactures !

The Jap type are cheaper due to easily available material, reduced overhead and domestic use NOT lower quality material or workmanship compared to the US counterpart !

I wouldnt really say not very sought after. rather, I would say that the price difference would be the reason. the prices of early fullerton reissue strats ( 1982 - 1985 I think ) today are on par with those strats that are made in the 1970s. they are sought after by collectors thats for sure.

for a good playing strat, just try out a few old MIJ fenders. you would be surprised by their quality as compared to some MIA strats of today.

Me, i am aiming a stratocaster. And i know there are many which looks alike.
Looking through the web site, i still cant tell the differences.


I hope i will buy a standard. Cause i wanna keep it for long time and prefer standard kind then wired thingy guitar.

if youre looking at a strat, few come close to the fenders (personal opinion), but do look up the greco and perhaps fernandes.

there's a very good deal floating in buy/sell section now...the MIJ fender strat for 790..give it a go before it's gone..tried a '94 MIJ today..beats a current production american std anytime (IMO)..

Price range for MIA Fender are between $1.4 - $5k, depending on models. The most value for money MIA Fender is the Highway Series, going at Swee Lee at $900 I think during their sale.

For MIJ, you can drop down at G77, located at Excelcia Basement. Price ranges from $800 to $1.5k. Alternatively, you can order from http://www.ishibashi-music.com/. Their prices are slightly cheaper than stores in Singapore.

Yeah, I second to that. Just try around those that catches your eye. Different people like different stuff. Some like maple neck, some rosewood, some like texas pickups, some like American vintage. Just go to the shop and play around with the guitars. End of the day, you buy something that you like without regrets.

The Highway 1 series is an MIA but stripped down of 'luxuries' you find on an American Series. It has a nitrocellulose finish that enables you to actually see the wood grain, not like the Standard series where the body is painted wholly as per normal. In other words, Fender basically took out whatever that makes a Standard expensive and leaves behind the basic workhorse that is the Highway One. It's cheaper and imho, the H1 is a fine performer. I have a H1 Strat and more recently, a H1 Tele. I love them both. The price doesn't hurt either.

Seriously dude....go on to their website and do some research. It's not just about JP vs US. There are a lot more to consider.
