Not sure if anyone suggested this earlier, but if not, you could just get yourself a tiny little mixer (and leave it at your friend's place). When you go, plug in both your guitars into a mixer, and the output of the mixer into the amplifier. You'd have separate gains /volume controls for both guitars, so that won't be much of an issue.

Obviously, an ideal way would be to use DI Boxes to hook up your respective guitars to the mixer, but at this stage I don't think it would make much of a difference to you.

The best part - you can use the mixer for whatever the hell you want --- mics, guitars, keyboards, etc.
