James Yen (LostRaven) you turd

My condolences skipper53.

Had something like this before, but not as bad. The buyer had a terrible attitude and I should have never agreed to deal with him. Oh well, at some point in time we all would have to go through something similar, whether it's on soft or anywhere else.

Btw, good luck with your case!

Unsane: the bridge itself (like a TOM?) will come out but the two poles that hold the TOM aren't supposed to.
THe bridge wasn't even installed properly, so definitely can't even tune.

Did he say the guitar custom made in where? I see the first picture has Fender logo on the headstock, looks like 1 of those China fake guitars. Why would you pay $680 for something like that when you can get genuine gear with that amount?

@Hercules: fender headstock decals can be very easily bought. Anyway the story from the get go was that he has a friend who put these together. On the night i met him he told me his "friend" puts the specs together and get someone in Indonesia to do up the woodwork and all. Prior to meeting him, i thought i did enough scoping him soft. the ads are off now, but the initial 3 gutiars he had up were apparently sold (i really wanna hear from the ppl who've dealt with him). And then there was another piece like this in orange that got snapped up pretty fast.

I had enough email correspondence though which i thought i had my homework covered. i guessed wrong.

genuine guitar wise, i've think i've got all bases covered. this was an interesting piece. having scoped him for long enough i decided to take the plunge, you have to admit the guitar's quite an interesting piece. if i found the guitar to be not of my liking after buying it.. i could've simply put it back on soft. but there's no hope in doing that now considering there are so many defects on the wood itself.

@Hercules: I quote myself, "another piece like this in orange." I.E. there was another piece like this in the classifieds on sale that was orange in color. It got snapped up pretty fast.

Okay, now i'm worried. Has anybody ordered from TPH. Chen? How about any people who bought guitars from local makers post what they have and how it is so as to know who is reliable and not?

Yeah, this TPH.Chen fella looks like the same guy posting on a different account. Well that is what it looks like.

A good custom made guitar will never be so cheap. If it's too good to be true, it probably is. So this person here is peddling some really dodgy guitars.

So far, the best custom made guitars at the lowest price are still made by Rinton and NNG in Thailand. I've owned both before and I still keep the NNG one. They are very well made with quality parts, but cost at least 1K to 2K each.

Today's newspaper, straits times first page, addresses your issue TS...
Except that is retailer vs consumer as opposed to your case which is an undocumented transaction... So might even be harder.

LostRaven, deaddreamero and tph.chen seems to be the same guy selling the same stuffs over and over again. IMO there's really something fishy about this seller.

Nothing fishy, just a sneaky seller trying to scam people out of money by posing as different characters. His pictures are a dead giveaway though.

Folks, I'm quite resigned to my fate. The more i look at all the correspondences, the more I think sigh, should i bother wasting my breath?

It's year end, crunch time both at work and at home. and i really dont have the time to be pursuing this through. GAH!

Dear Softies, consider this an expensive lesson learnt, on my account. Even after all these years of dealing on soft and always taking precautions, doing my homework and all, i still got duped. my heart aches to say this.

in anycase, thank you all for the words of comfort. they are reassuring to say the least. for what it's worth, the sight of this thing at home is making me want to puke, if you dont mind the scuff on the fretboard, willing to get someone to do some fret work, replace the bridge, the nut and also have someone have a good go over with the wiring you are welcome to take it off my hands ($300?!). I dont know. PM me. just want to get rid of it.

Oh yes, if time permits.. pls send a "screw you" text to James TURD Yen 93255993, this Christmas season.

Btw Bro Skipper...He was selling guitars with "fender" logo on it...Maybe you can also claim that he's selling fake stuffs when you submit the claim...If not mistaken based on Singapore law, distributing and selling fake goods can be punished with 100,000 SGD fines.

I had an experience with someone tried to sell me a fake Ibanez before and I did mention this to him. :D

Whao whao whoa. Just wanted to clear my name from all this. I bought that guitar from Tph.Chen and hoped to mod the sucker. I fixed it up, did my best to level the shoddy fretwork and slapped on elixirs, intonated it, etc before deciding I've no time to work on the project with a new son and all. Sold it at a loss after the time and money spent on it and dare I say leaving it in way better condition than I got it. I must admit the guitar pretty playable when I bought it, maybe just slightly better luck than bro skipper here.

Wanted to clear my name before getting dragged in the mud (although it may be too late). Just want to say I feel ur pain and voice out before anyone thinks I peddle guitars for scams. Anyway my number is there and I've had some smooth deals with softies, hope that clarifies.

Also I've been using this nick since forever, some folks may know fivex from #guitar channel in IRc back in the late 90s.

Ps. Luckily i saw this thread cos I seldom browse the discussion forums.

Hey no worries. Just wanted to help clear things up. We all need to look after each other in any community - you guys were just being vigilant.

I guess the lesson learnt by us all is - if an axe seems too good a deal to be true, it probably is.

Happy holidays everyone.
