J&D brothers bass

I have been planning to get a 6-string j&d bass. i donnoe wad is the exact model though, but i tired it at ranking b4.
to me, i like it coz the neck is comfortable, and the sound is good.
do u think i should get j&d basses? any reviews on the brand?

I've tried that bass before and have quite liked it. It has a comfortable feel for a 6 string. I almost got it but since I had a higher budget decided to get an Ibanez soundgear instead. That's definitely a good bass for that price. Do look out for the blend knob though...I tried one with a faulty pot.

just chiming in here, used to have a J&D 5 string neckthrough for recording. it played great,comfortable neck and all but the pickups/electronics were horrendous. sounded terrible no matter how much tweaking/reamping went into it, really noisy as well. i suppose they had to cut corners somewhere though as everything else was GREAT for the price.

i didnt have money to drop new 5 string pickups into it though,so i sold it.

i tried the 6-string J&D at Ranking before ... it's with a J-MM config ...

1. comfortable to play

2. really good built for the price

3. finish look cheap, well it is cheap

4. electronics ARE HORRIBLE, NOISY, WEAK AND THIN. it put me off from serious GAS on that bass.

yea, i am reconsidering it.
i like it coz its cheap too la. but since its cheap, but bad sounding... hmm ok i guess u guys are right la.
maybe next time must save up for more good 6stringer bass...

honestly why do you need a 6-string bass for?

to play melody licks/riffs?

chordal works?

solo work?

i think you've gotta reconsider why you need it.

I'm eyeing a TRB 6-stringer due to my increase in chordal and melody works on my bass. Thus the need for expansion of spectrum range. Melvin Wong's letting go a beautiful TRB6P Mach I bass on luther .. man .. i would have gotten it if i had the cash .. bleahs ...

i want it coz i want to play melodic riffs. and also i want to play dream theater songs.... sounds stupid la, u tink i shld even get a 6 string bass if i want to play melodic riffs and dream theater songs?

and tht trb 6string bass, isit the john myung series? tht one wha lau! i saw tht time at yamaha, 1k+!! i no money la :lol:
but tht bass is cool la

the trb isnt the john myung series. it falls under the RBX series. RBX-JM2 to be exact.

oh, may i noe how much does the trb cost? and where to get? at plaza sing yamaha? tht place i onli saw the john myung series onli. nvr see other 6 strings. onli all 5 strings n 4

depends on which model you're looking at ...

the TRB1006 cost around 1.8K at Yamaha brand new.

The TRB6II which i'm eyeing is around 2.2K ...

The TRB series with piezo bridges .. don't say lah .. around 4 - 5K ... but solid stuff ...

There was a TRB6P Mach I going off Luther at 1.9K .. Melvin's selling it off .. man .. beautiful amber finish ..
