its highly unlikely that the Gibson Rep would lie to you or make a mistake, come on la its their own products. I suggest go to g77 and ask for a refund.

Well da date on da cam is nt updated. Bought it abt 1 wk plus. I tink it was Uncle Dennis. I was not intendin 2 buy a guitar but my dad suddenly said he wanted 2 get me a Gibby for my Bdae. So we wen on to peni to look ard. So i saw dis SG n was told it was an SG Custom. So for $1.5K i tot its a gd deal but soon after gettin it i googled to get my guitar's spec n den found out there is no Custom wif dot inlays. So i emailed Gibby n had a fren helo call Gibby. They reply me sayin dat it is an SG Special wif the alpine white paint stripped. So now i have been emailin Dennis n will come by dis Thurs after exams. G77 said they not willing to refund but many parties felt i shud get a refund. Thou Dennis seems to belive it is a Custom but no doubt it is actually a Special. I hope he realize he made an honest mistake and maybe refund me bk my dads's hard earn cash.

It's hard to believe that someone who dealt so long with guitars claiming a SG special to be a SG custom...

hmm... $1500 for a custom in that condition is an ok price.

BUT $1500 in that condition for a Special... Wooo... i think a brand new piece is about $1700 only...

yah it's quite hard to believe that a guitar shop with so much experience can make such a mistake. actually you don't really need much experience for this piece... but i think we can give them a benefit of doubt, i mean everyone makes mistake, so let them (G77) know and see what they say first.

you should get a refund, coz if they don't, they have committed an illegal act. knowing their service i don't think there will be a problem of getting a refund. they are basically good guys i think it's just a mistake on their part.

at this point, just my opinion... if they offer you an exchange for another guitar, don't. get the refund and reconsider your options first. because situations like that often cause us to compromise on what we want and chances is we may make a swap for something we don't really fancy...

damn right dude, i need someone to hook me up with her... I wanna play SOS while she prances around!

Okay, don't OT... this thread is SERIOUS!

yap, CASE is it.

but i think we seem to be a bit hard on G77 at the moment? i think we shouldn't be since they have not given any final answer? so all, please relac. :)

ZiiopBoii, if you like the guitar, perhaps you can just negotiate for a partial refund. ONLY if you are happy with the price. if not just forget it, take the full refund.

can ask wai kay from orangeguitar.com to value the price of your SG. he's a helpful dude. then from there you should know how much to ask for partial refund.

BUT if i were you. FULL refund and forget about it.

if i was to value that SG...in that condition...
$900-$1000 max.

btw, what does it say on the truss rod cover? certainly doesnt say SG like its supposed to.
im guessing it says 'custom' which is how G77 got confused.
its still not an excuse tho, as it is their profession.

refund man, can't believe g77 so damn cock and blur and still insist its a custom. Bring your dad and go down bang table. I hate those people who sell you wrong and still insist they are right.

Everdying, you are very kind. with you offer, can easily get a used piece in very good condition. :) i give it 600-700 max.

it would puzzle me even more if they claim it to be a custom just because the truss rod cover say so! ha...

seriously it a bad mistake...

Lol this post very dramatic. I'm staying tuned to see what happens.

Hope you get the refund. Its really sad to get cheated that way, but we'll see what G77 has to say about this. If all else fails....CASE cause it looks like you have a genuine claim here.
