Guys, not sure if there's any thread like this before, sorry if there is any. just asking, how exactly do you do the heel-toe? I've watched youtube, vic firth countless times, but cant seem to do it. when i hit with my heel, it seems hard to toe it. cause my toes hit the chain thingy. hope you guys understand my problem lah.

is my feet too long? i have size 10 feet. and im only 15 =x

hey! i'm size 10 too, but i can do it on most pedals. yeah i understand, sometimes i can't do it with certain shoes on (those pointy formal kinda shoes) but works fine with my vans shoes. prefer bare-feet most of the time, and when it's not happening, i keep dig in a bit deeper (like u said, touch the chains). i would say its practice, and if its still not cooking, try getting a different pedal? see what suits you

Do you have problem when you play bare footed? If you dont, then it is mostly to be the shoe. For shoe, I would recommend you check out those motor racing shoe (puma does have quite a wide range), the design principle is pretty much the same for drumming.

alright. thanks lots guys. means i've got other choice then.

practice, practice, practice. like they say, practice makes perfect. =) thanks loaddssss!

Foot size does not really matter. "Heel-toe" is not to be taken literally as the technique does not require you to use your heel to play the pedal or to even touch it.

The first stroke (when played slowly) is actually generated from the whole leg. It's important that you do not bury the beater and that you let it swing all the way back. The second stroke is actually generated from the ankle (think heel-down).

Practice this VERY slowly first to get the motion correct.
