is John Mayer really that good?

I'm not a fan of John Mayer...but i've been hearing a lot about him though.

Is he really that good or just another popular guy?

for one, he is definitely one of the more articulate artists out there right now (reuses one too many metaphors in his interviews, though)

i liked what he said in one of his interviews, on the topic of accepting who you really are as an artist, and how if people simply kept within that callibration at all times, how much more exciting the "scene"(read: artistic community) would be... mmm.

Yeah. I'd say John Mayer's awesome. Not just another handsome dude with a guitar. Lots of girls want to make love to him because they think he's sexy. But I think he's a great musician too. I won't say he's the Jimi of our day cos everything he's doing has pretty much been done before. But still, I have a lot of respect for him. Both for his commercial success and playing.

Anyway, whether they make it or break it, good tunes will always come out from this talented man. Sometimes, a broken heart can write better songs too.

IMO, he's good. Very natural in his playing when you see his live performance videos.
