hi all! i m a electric guitar beginner and was looking for a good starter guitar.
i found 2 on the web namely fender and ibanez, as i m not too sure about both guitar. i would like to consult al the pros here!
and btw, where can i find this two guitar in sg?

fender doesn't have a starter pack. i believe the one u saw was the squier starter pack. squier happens to be the mass market brand of fender so that's probably what got u mixed up. anyway, both starter packs can be found at swee lee.

there are also other starter packs to be found in spore. if u dun mind china brands, u might wanna head down to standard value to check them out. :)

yeap fender has no starter packs.
should be "squire by fender" thats what you saw probably.
but i won't recommend starter packs.i believe finding a nice guitar and a nice clean tone amp seprately will be the best option for you.

ibanez is more for metal heads.(maybe its just me ahha )
fenders are good for all genres actually.
Squire by Fender is good also but look out for "lemons".

well there are actually some pretty decent starter packs. i've tried the timbre sr200. while i didn't test the amp, i can definitely vouch for the guitar :D

haha yea...subversion did a review for the sx guitar starter pack. but do get a friend who knows how to test guitars to test those as there are lemons :)

okay. haha thanks for all the advice. will look in to it. but i realise something, how come swee lee 's price for guitar is so much higher than the outside? sometimes up to 50%

its a very long story,go search the forum.lots of rant post about it
im not gonna mention anything here

on the lighter side,go for a HSS strat very versitile guitar for all genres.
an alder body strat would be good.like the timbre sr2000.

Please tell us what genres/bands you like.
And it isn't true that ibanez is for metalheads.

Btw, my heart skipped a beat when I saw your thread title.

Nightowl3000, is the price you found from the website? Because Swee Lee's website is very out of date and usually the prices are wrong. It might cost even less than as stated on the website.

I can vouch for the quality of the Timbre SR200. Superb guitar. I don't know about the amp either, though. The Smash S2 is also available at the same shop and is more versatile, but depends what you want to play. The Smash S2 will sound 'darker' but the Timbre SR200 brighter due to the different tonewoods used. Both are stratocaster copies so you can consider those if you're into Fender style designs. Squiers are good but they are over-priced and you can get better stuff for less...

Yup, tell us what musical styles / bands you intend to play. Then we can narrow down good choices for you.

hi all. yup the price i saw is online. wanted to check out the web before going down.
i think i will check out the Timbre SR200.
thanks everyone!
