Iron Cobra owners please help

Hi,

I just purchased an Iron Cobra Power Glide Single Pedal from Swee Lee. However, I noticed that the beater is different from the "Iron Cobra Beater" which they advertised on the box. It's just a normal beater from any of their other pedals, say the HP200. I went back to Swee Lee and they said it was a standard issued beater with all Iron Cobras...just wanted to verify if it's true?

I've got the Power Glide double pedal, and the beaters are definitely NOT the HP200 beaters. Go to the Tama website and see for yourself, they're different. The shape's different, and it's got that small counterweight thingy or other on the beater shaft.

You probably got ripped off mate. Who can you trust nowadays eh? :x

p.s. FWIW, the other beater probably works just as well. But yes, it's the *principle* of it all...

p.p.s. this would really suck if someone told me Tama changed their beater design recently. But I doubt it.

There has been a changed n the Iron Cobra packaging. From grey to black. So probably there could be other changes to the actual pedals. Havent got the chance to examine the new stuffs tho.

yeah i was in real doubt as well. Just went to the Tama website and the beater's still there...Why else would Tama put the beater as one of the features of Iron Cobra if they're not going to provide it? Just too bad SL's the only place to get Tama products, another monopolized thing in Singapore.

if ure not busy. report them to tama. but then again they may be banned from selling tama products. and we lose out. or tama may just ignore you. i dunno. but u could try.

Have you thought about buying online? I've been doing that for the last few purchases I made. Sometimes it's cheaper even with shipping included, I kid you not. (Though I have to admit, it's usually on the big ticket items close to or > $1000)

Case in point: I called up Swee Lee to ask about Roland drum modules. Wanted to get a TD-6V, just the module. The guy was incredulous. Says how can they sell the module without the drums included. I ended up ordering from Music123, got them to drive the price down by USD$80 cos I let them know of another site selling it for cheaper (Music123 even beat that price by USD$10), free shipping to my friend in the States who then mailed it to me..or alternatively you could use vPostUSA. Cost me about SGD$800 all in, but there seemed to be no other way.

Online's a good idea, have done a few deals on Ebay as well. They've got a few online stores on ebay that sells firsthand items, which can go cheaper because they needn't pay rent as compared to retails stores. However, the postage can be quite ex sometimes, especially for heavier items. I haven't heard of Music123 before this, but I'll definitely check it out...

Just emailed to Tama direct...don't blame me if the ban really comes (though I think it won't)

The idea is to keep your options open. Do all the math, have your browser windows open and cued to ebay.com, drumbalaya.com, music123.com, musiciansfriend.com etc. etc. as well as exchangerate.com for quick calculations and comparisons.

there's more than one online store that ships to singapore, georgesdrumshop.com does too as well. just do a comparison before you buy.

ironically, i've never made a single ebay transaction yet. all the good stuff doesn't ship to our shores. :roll:

i own a hp900 dbl pedals too...so id suggest you report them to tama...

Sweelee does sell the iron cobra beaters, and all of sudden, no less... I think they seriously want to rip off all you would-be iron cobra owners...

Check the shelf where they hang all the hardware... the clamps and packaged stand extensions... there're a couple there. i think it's about 7 or 8 bucks each.

My solution? Just go there and help yourself. It's small enough. Not encouraging you to steal, but if I were you, I'd be so pissed that I'd burn the whole place down. Coz sweelee has never had good customer service, and they've ripped me off more than once. :evil:
