Ipod has a mod??

Mod for Gen 4&5 Ipod

Any of u had any chance to try and own this thing? Its supposedly to make the ipod be as gd as a high end cd player.

you'd be better off getting a good pair of headphones and a good headphone amp, and add in a dac if you're really audiophile-lic

and its quite expensive too. around 375sgd.

what earphones are u looking at?

if you like clarity, get etymotics. er4p if you have the cash, er6 if you are on budget. but most people dun like the high treble though, may be too piercing at first, but once you get used to it you'll appreciate the amount of clarity that they provide. another warning though: etymotics generally lack bass, and the er4 series may need an amp for it to hit its full potential.

i own the er6.

as for imod, i think jaben at adelphi sells them. apparently they mod 5g ipod cos of the better sound card that they have inside, compared to the 6g.

im lookin at ultimate ears and headphone amp not yet decided. Juz dat I regretted gettin itouch coz using lossless format 8gb isnt much. Dats y im lookin imod alo but dun tink im buying it any time soon. Man investing in these can get me a a bloody Valvetech amp lol. Anw i am getting better earphones and a headphone amp for sure and stickin wif my itouch for now.

Can anyone recommend any shop dat offer fair prices for these kinda thing or forums 2 find out more and get used ones maybe.

There's no better place to try them out than Jaben. They have a forum too. Search it. As for ultimate ears, don't take form me wholly, but I read that they are not good in sound isolation compare to maybe Shure or Westone. Visit Jaben, They'll let you try til you are satisfied which to buy.

if you are looking for headphones can head down to music by design also in adelphi, they have grados for you to audition. have yet to go there to try though haha.

thx guys. I went 2 Jaben sunday and got myself a Go-vibe magnum and UE Super fi pro.

Good choice, I like the Magnum, but price-performance ration wise, it just doesn't cut it for me.

I also use the SF5 Pro, with custom cables, hahaha.

And yes, Jaben does bring in imods sometimes but they are sporadic and they are sold out very very quickly.

Imod is expensive, but worth it, imho. To keep it simple, what the imod does is to bypass and replace certain inferior parts within the ipod itself, of which lending an improvement to the overall sound quality.

UE does not lose out the Shure, Westone or any other brands for that matter, in terms of sound isolation.

In fact, UE's sound isolation is second to none when you have them worn correctly.

i am using a headset now.. the audio technica one due to the fact that i like pumping bass, imaging and separation

however prolong using finds that it's too big for portable usage.

any recommendation ?

Phil bro da reason i chose magnum was coz of its bass contrl, small size and it sounds best with most of da music dat i listen 2. Im Listening to stuff like Beggars's Opera, GNR, East of Eden, ZZ top, Tednugent,Black Crowes, Peral Jam, P.Floyd.The bass on this thing is awesome. To me it is worth da price. I tested at Jaben from .22; mseed Spirit; Go-Vibe Vulcan;Voyager;RSA Hornet;Tomahawks. I find the RSA r abit too bright for me. Vayager n vulcan is awesome but ex n bulky. At last me n my dad both got ourselved a Magnum.

I also agree that UE isolation is gd. And its sound quality is awesome. Damn punchy and very 3D. The only thing is 8gb for my cd collection is 2 little if i wanna go 4 lossless format.

BTW Phil wat custom cables n HP amp r u using. I mite intend 2 get it 4 mine 2.
