Drmearz affordable custom fitted in ear monitors for drummers

Hey Mitch, are you implying that your single driver design is superior to the standard dual to triple driver designs from the likes of (Livewires, Westone, UE)? If so, how?

checked out the website and their pricing, and at those prices, it's not really justifiable to compare it to other multiple driver customs at much higher prices.

Did i say say superior? Did you go to drmearz.com? What i said was i have tried dual & triple driver monitors in search of the better sound everyone proclaims, but never got a better, more true sound than what i already had with my drmearz drm-1. Even after sending them back to lab technician and having the crossovers tweaked & a dedicated driver just for low end i could not get a better kick drum or bass guitar sound than what i already had. Don't get me wrong, you do get more bass. There is no way to have dedicated drivers just for low end & not have more bass. But it is a boomy, colored bottom sound. Not like the tight, flat, true sound i am accustomed to getting from my drm-1. I am a drummer who sings 18 songs a nite 4-5 nites every week. I am blessed to play drums for a living. I have been using custom fitted in ear monitors for approx 15 years now which is half my career. I wouldn't say these things if i didn't know what i was talking about. You don't have to spend alot of $$$ anymore to get the high fidelity sound all the hard hitters are getting & save the hearing you have left @ the same time. Imagine this concept..... A custom fitted in ear monitor designed by a drummer for drummers........... Cheerz...........mitch marcum

Oh Man...I was so desperate to have a new pair of custom IEs done before my upcoming tour starting end next week. I started calling local shops here and most of them who carry westones and UEs all need 4-6 weeks to get it delivered. Because of that, I decided to wait till I'm back home again before making my order. If only you posted this up earlier. I read on your site that you take only 2-3 weeks! I would've gone with you in a blink of an eye!!!! Damn!!

Dr Dre

I am a bassist and I use Beats by Dr Dre. Looks cool and the bass is deep and dosen't distort at high levels. Best bass-biased IEM I used thus far.

You should try it.

Alright so everyone perceive sounds differently, this much we know. But here's a little caveat, conventional loudspeaker designs all have multiple drivers and crossovers, it's been that way for a long time. So to get that less boomy, tight, flat, true sound, will Genelec have to do a design overhaul for their monitor speakers and have just one driver? I'll note that different rules might apply as it's loudspeakers to earphones, but it's really not that far off the mark. Still, I could be dead wrong here.

I will have to say yes, a single driver IEM is more than sufficient for live monitoring purposes and at that price point for a pair of custom IEMs it's a pretty unbeatable deal as far as I know :)

DRM Earz affordable custom fitted in ear monitors for drummers

Honestly i'm not trying to compare my monitors to any other iem company. If you look at the detachable cable connection on my drmearz drm-1 in ear monitors it is no comparison to the bulky center connection of others. It is a true wrap around the ear design for more comfort and cable placement. As far as dual drivers for $249. Thats is true, but they have to do that to compete now that there are newer and in my mind better designs out there. Listen, the whole idea is to make it possible to max out your personal monitor mix at a much lower volume. I am just one of the many iem companies saving hearing one person at a time .......... Cheerz....mitch marcum

Hey, a noob question here hehe.
For those of you who use IEM, do you have personal mixer?
Hehee, sorry for being too noob-ish lol.

Hey Mitch, are you implying that your single driver design is superior to the standard dual to triple driver designs from the likes of (Livewires, Westone, UE)? If so, how?

As an audiophile, I would say that there is no better or worse. It depends on your ears and your own personal preference. An example would be that I prefer my single dynamic driver IEM, which is the Future Sonics Atrios to dual balanced armature IEMs like the UE Super.fi 5 Pro and Westone UM2. I feel my Atrios are comparable to the UE Triple.fi 10 Pro. I admit that the Triple.fi 10 Pro has better detail but the feel of the bass just isn't there. It's all what you like.

I don't use my IEMs for monitoring but, I use it for personal listening so our thinking may be different.

in ear monitors for drummers

Let me try this a different way. This is a copy of an email from a satisfied customer...... "I play 4-5 nites every week here in Florida. I am using these custom fitted in ear monitors I found that are designed by a drummer for drummers. They are called drmearz. I saw online that drmearz just endorsed Nick Rich (Buddy Rich's grandson). That gave them enough street credit for me to try them. I'm extremely satisfied. I put my whole drum mix + vocals + sequence & click as well as bass & guitar all @ a comfortable level while isolating out all the stage loudness. They are only single drivers, but the price is right & the customer service was awesome". I Hope this helps with your decision.........

Oh...haha. Ok, these are "universal" fit models we fabricated for customers to try the sound quality. There are shops in Singapore selling UM customs but we are the 1st and only one to have these beauties for public testing (UM is strictly a customizing company).

Wow, holy sweet peas. That must have cost a white tiger. Still contemplating if i should invest on a Livewire 3. :\

Nope, these guys are a lot more cost effective than UEs, Westones and Livewires. I have seen the actual Livewire molds from my engineer friend and the mold quality is FAR from these guys. These photos are not studio shots by the way...its from my digicam....its how they actually look like.

Hi alvin,

Can I know where you get those IEMs? I'm keen to get one, I'm surveying on Ultimate Ears but I can't find any suit for me. Can you reckon the ones that I can get in Spore? And also the price range. Thanks!

Hey there,

You can try them out at The Music Lab (116 Middle Road #05-02 ICB Enterprise House). If you like how the drivers sound, we will recommend you an audiologist to get your impressions done and send in your impressions for the customs to be done. It takes about 3-4 weeks. There heaps of colours to choose from and we can even do dual tones like the "UM4" in the photo posted.

There are already many positive reviews over the UE equivalents from many musicians and consumers who are current UE users!! Come check them out for yourself!

Drop me an email at alvintan@themusiclab.com.sg for pricing.

Cheers
