hmm..let's say,some1 in ur band can play well..or let's say,ppl who play tt instrument r rare(e.g. in a skool) n u got him in ur band...however,tt guy has BAD attitude...

wud u choose to keep him/fire him?

Is he absolutely important? If your band can do without him, i'd say fire his ass. It's no point working with a musician with bad attitude.

A nicer way, talk to him nicely about it and hope he changes for the better.

the drummer looks for tabs of punk songs tt i'm not even interested in n plays them out if front of me like as if he's trying to tell me tt he's better than me in guitar-playing...

Ya know, it would do good if you got everybody together, sat down as a band and talked things out. So you'll at least understand why he's doing what he's doing. But if it really doesn't work out, sometimes you might be better of without him. Go unplugged for a while until you find a replacement. Music is about team work man, passion and direction. It won't help if someone in the band looks like a lost cause.

maybe what ur drummer wants is to play punk songs... it's his interest to play that kind of music.

not very sure if u're saying ur drummer plays the drums or guitar for the punk songs u mention.

ask for his opinion. if u guys are unable to reconcile the differences (genre, attitude, whatever) then most likely one will have to leave.

actually we wanted to play x japan songs initially but after tt knew we're FAR from tt standard...then we started playing papa roach n punk..u know, those kinda 'chord' songs...

it's as if he's trying to show tt i suck n he's better..he even does tt in front of other ppl so they'll think he's better than me in guitar-playing while he's actually the drummer!!!somehow i feel tt he's sort of 'invading' n i feel insulted...

i'd OFF that person.
I did off her.
the whole thing was OFF anyway.
i don't even talk to her now.
we became from best friends to... not so good friends.

if u feel so unhappy about it, then talk to him about it, and try not to assume that that's his purpose of playing guitar. ya really haven't proven anything to confirm your beliefs you know.

hmm well, i have nice bandmates, my bassist is my bestie.. As for the drummer in my band.. The last jamming session, he invited his friends, metalheads [i have nothing against them]. Ok fine, they jammed.. me and my bassist watched them.. and they were like wow.. after watching them.. i'm kinda demoralised. He seems happier jamming with his friends.. as they're pretty good.. hmm.. Not sure how he feels jamming with.. and he's better than me in guitar playing... :( Well it's kinda demoralising for me.. but same time pushing me to practice harder and be better than him.

hmm. it seems he is sorta affecting u only? if yes, then maybe u should talk to him one on one, since its affecting only u, if u can't work something out with him, then u might want to talk to ur bandmates. if the bandmates feel the same as u on the issue, then its time to let him go i think, unless u guys manage to talk him around.

in any case, there are bound to be other drummers, or someone u might be able to psycho into learning drums lol. for eg, u mentioned X japan, just let the dude watch some of yoshiki's action and u're set. lol.

not to seem like im stereo-typing or anything, but there IS a large portion of such singaporeans around. they like to so called, "put you down" in front of others. by "how-lian'ing" in front of others, they gain glory for themselves and climb on top of ur head. personally, such people are not worth bothering urself with, if they tick u off, its best to withdraw from his life.

p.s. in the event that he doesnt listen to u, nor ur bandmates, and yet u think hes too good to let go, then just go learn drums and how lian back at him lor

Sounds like some Ego's are butting heads. He may just be trying to contribute.

Hmm, for me well, one important aspect of being in a band is the friendship bond. I believe that once you have that bond, it's easier to work things out when conflicts arise. In a band, there is bound to have conflicts. Like what song to do, how a certain part of a song should be played etc etc. But all these and more, almost any problem can be resolved if there is a tight bond. For myself, one of my best friends is in the same band as me. For the rest of them, I do have a friendship bond with them as well. For our lead man, he's pretty new in the band, but I'm trying to build a tight bond with him as well. In that way, you will have no problems talking to each other when conflicts arise. For me and my best friend, we can talk about anything under the sun and resolve issues almost instantly.

Instead of just meeting to jam, go do stuff which builds friendships too. Go drink in a pub, get drunk LoL (no dun get drunk), do stuff together. That way, the friendship bond gets tighter. A musician from a successful band told me once, if you build tight bonds with each other in the band, it will also make the band sound tighter, no joke, cos everyone will understand one another better etc.. I dun really know how it works but it does work. That's why in our band, we're trying to achieve that now. I won't say that we're tight and all, but we're trying :)

You could start learning how to use the Creative Prodikeys... Master it so that you can kick his sorry egotistical ass in "drumming", like that "uncle" in the demo vid. And you will definitely become a more versatile musician.

yea that works too, as a final last resort LOL

Well, Sim Wong Who? (think Steve Jobbs' comment) will be pleased when a local musician scores with his product.

It can also serve as a deterrence to the remaining band mates.

if he's affecting more than one member in the band, then you should ask him to start walking..
