Just to bring up something... I've had people ask me if installing a locking nut on their fixed bridge guitar will help with tuning stability.

DEFINATELY.

But how are you going to tune after you've locked the nut? The very act of locking the nut will alter the tuning a touch. You tell me you want to tune to some offsets then you tighten the nut? Then go from air con to non air-con places? From afternoon heat to evening cool?

You need fine tuners still.

my friend has a fake JEM7VWH he bought from china when he went there. apparently they sell many different grades like those counterfeit handbags they have. he got his from a music store which also stocked the originals and they let him play both to feel the difference. he left with the fake for 1.2k.

theres also the fake ones made of jelutong and styrofoam inlays, wrapped in newspaper and sold on the streetss

wow... another reason to visit China. if only to see with my own eyes! which part of china did your friend visit?

i'm curious that your friend took the fake for 1.2k (that's quite alot for a fake, i feel... unless real quality parts are installed). is the quality of the fake worth that kinda cash?

www.ebay.com search for Ibanez. You'll see a ton of them.

I want to know too... I am very skeptical about it. 1.2k is a lot of money and we are talking about a JEM here, not some RG or Saber. A JEM!!!

Counterfeit JEMs?! 8O That's a first for me. But they look seriously really good I have to say. Chinese ingenuity! Wonder how do they sound? :?:

Wow the jem stll looks veri nice for a fake. I wonder how it plays and the sound.. that's really all that matters to me. I'm going Beijing soon! Where to find these?

Pier.

yes 1.2k, unless hes screwing with me. the fakes was displayed in a music shop, which also sells loads of real fenders, gibsons as well as ibanez. the so called A++ fakes are stored in another special room where he a/bed tested them. hardware wise everything was the same from the edge pro bridges and the dimarzio pups. he said they played almost the same. im not sure about other stuff like the body wood construction etc etc.

btw its being sold in the luther ads i think, search for china jem.

In fact, there are also fake gibsons, fake this, fake that, fake SE W800i, fake Sony Memory Stick Pro, fake branded thumbdrives (like Kingston, Sony), etc, etc...

:D

the K7 looks veriiiiiiiiiiiiii K7.... wahhaha

i don't mind owing the K7... haha

some of the jem are also realli gd looking.... although looks could be deciving too....

actually the AAAA+++ golden platinium high class stuff arent shown online, only to serious customers. so yea i dont know, if those look good, oh mann.

im not interested though lol.

Er.. the only thing on the "K7" that ressembles the K7 is the neck. Printed on the headstock is JEM? 8O It doesn't have the cavity for pickup mounts on the real K7. Hardware is chrome instead of black and the colour is kinda weird for a K7 for me. But if i can have that for $50, i wouldn't mind all those knick knacks.

I remember back in the 80's when cassette walkman were ther rage, and each on average cost $300 or more. There were already Sunny and Fonny and Aima going for $25-45.

Counterfieting I think is as old as when man invented the wheel.

I'll be stopping over at Bangkok on my way back too.. any good guitars to find there? Doesn't have to be fake Ibanezes..
Anyone that has been to both Beijing and Bangkok and checked out Fender strats/telecasters? Wonder which of these sell cheaper fenders...

Pier.

some looked really fake.
but some look really good.

1st time i've heard of "fake" guitars
man....china sure know how to earn money.
As always they are the ones coming up with so many creative ideas on earning money.

no offence. But everytime i see something on the news with "fake" products, be it food, goods whatever. first thing that comes to my mind is CHINA.
