Ibanez or rally? Opinions?

I'm currently looking at the ibanez RG321mh and the rally GL400...

I play mostly rock , though i don't have much experience with electric...i use to own an ibanez s470 but had so many problems i gave up on it. But anyways, basically i want a simple, reliable guitar that sounds great...

I've heard no doubt great reviews about the rg321mh, but i feel more attracted to the GL400...i've played the RG321mh at SV guitars at penin, but didn't try the rally gl400...

so which one would you guys recommend?

but opinions? What turns me off is actually the fact that the neck is painted...i would prefer a smooth neck, and thus, the RG321...but the GL400 white is just hawt

I just got the Rally Gl-400 a month back. Its a beast though you really have to get used to it if your playing sitting down cause the LP shape's a lil uncomfortable to play if your resting it on your lap. And regarding the Gold hardware... My pickups are fading away * I think cause I rubbed it too hard when I'm cleaning my guitar.. Lol so it looks pretty crappy. But the other gold parts still looks nice.

I had an Epi LP (which is similar to a Rally GL-400 I think) for about 3 - 4 years then last year I bought an Ibanez RG which has the Wizard II neck and I'm really liking the Ibanez for it's playability.

The current Ibanez that I have uses an Edge 3 bridge. I was really looking for a fixed bridge RG. Now that you mentioned about the RG321MH, I wouldn't mind buying another Ibanez. :D

seriously can't make up my mind...sigh...i don't have skills you actually try the guitars too...unless you want me to do strumming or finger style on the rally and ibanez =D

do you guys think the ibanez is more worth the money? or the rally?

And which one is heavier? I kinda love heavy heavy guitars...les pauls are supposed to break backs..but the rally has a maple neck instead of the usual mahogany

I agree with Mus. Try the Rally first then you decide.

Like my case, I was already pretty sure that I would be buying a Fender Strat but when I first tried it, I felt that I was not comfortable and ready to be playing a guitar with C-shaped and thick finished neck so I did not buy it. After much thought, I ended up buying an Ibanez Prestige which I am quite pretty happy with.

To me, playability is important.

Just to share my story, I wanted to get a floating bridge guitar. My choice boiled down to a Schecter C-1 FR or an Ibanez RG. I tried the Schecter but it wasn't comfortable to play then I went on to try the Ibanez and I know it was the guitar to get. I am happy with my purchase.

i see all the videos and reviews of the rg321..and well, its really a praised guitar...it gets tons of credit and well you can play lots of hard rock on it and it sounds great...

But then again, all the best have les pauls...though, i wonder whether i can get the same crunchy tone of a true gibby with the rally..it has a maple neck afterall...

I guess i'll just drop by the new SVguitars shop...

Its a great shop :D the two guys manning the shop are great...a bit small though...Should extend :p

According to the website, there's no RG321MH in natural finish. I think you should call SV Guitars to enquire further.

actually i think i'll go for the ibanez...don't know..just something about it...i tried it a few days ago with the amp in SVguitars...that one that lights up blue...

The sound was nice man...the amp is nice too =D

That sound be the Sounddrive SG612 that you tried. Anyway, do give the Rally a spin while you are there, you might just like it. It sounds pretty darn similar to my friend's gibson les paul traditional.

yeah..soundrive...the 40watt one..but i tell you i really liked it..

And...is there any cheap solid state like the soundrive that handles pedals well?

What did you like about the Sound Drive amp? The clean or distorted channel?. I am using a Vox Pathfinder. It's a solid state amp and takes pedals really well.

This is going off topic. I think you should search for previous threads about amps. I am sure there a few that will meet your needs. :D
