I Want To Buy A Digital Paino for my Wife ? - Please Help !

Hi .

I want to buy an Paino for me wify, as she says "She Would Love To Learn How To Play A Paino". But both me and me wify knows really nothing about Paino.

Because of my Budget & Space Constraint too - I was deciding...whether I should buy an Electronic Paino or a Keyboard for her as a present.....and also Bros don't forget I must pay for her lesson later-on....but right now - I would appreciate if you all could help advice me...Whether I should buy her an Electronic Paino or a Keyboard for her to learn?.....

I'm totally lost, as I really knows ZERO about such instruments....I intend to buy a Brand New One for her......but what Brand is better ...I only have a small Budget of S$1500.00...Please help ! I saw Brands for Electronic Paino that is not so expensive are Yamaha & Casio (got thousand over dollars can get liao)

I see they list things like "How Many Keys....some got more and some got less"...very confusing to me......I just need something appropriate for her learning.

for your budget, i would suggest a Korg PA50. It has all those auto accompaniment. Good for beginners to indulge/enjoy rather than stressing themselves.

the budget electronic piano usually doesn't sound like the real piano and also the touch is quite plastic.

so, for a start, get a keyboard. have fun with it. learn the basic left/right hand co-ordination, chords, read notes, play in time ....

if moons later really discover prodigy in the making, get a nice nice piano.

Korg is distributed by CITY MUSIC CO.

Roland by SWEE LEE CO.

Yamaha by MUSIC PLAZA (Plaza Singapura)

Casio by ..... ??? Cristoferi ??? (spell check ???)

The P80 digital piano is the first in line of good hammer-action digital piano
produced by Yamaha, I wanted to get this when it first came out years ago.

The inital lauch price was $1400, which sold out quickly
after which the retail price went up to $1995.

So I wondering is the used price of $1200 justified ???

isn't the p90 going for just 1.3k?
and the CP33 for 1.6k

anyway, the p80 is not without its problems. it has had a serious history of brittle keys breaking easily due to some inferior material used in the manufacturing of the keys. in europe and US, yamaha has replaced many people's p80 key assembly for free. not sure whether yamaha in singapore will honour that.

the yamaha p70 is a good piano to start with, only $810 this festive season (offer till 31 dec).

wow! P70 for $810? that's very good price !!!
anyway no room for another 88 key gear.

I wasn't much aware of the faults of P80
and price of current digital pianos.

our friend's budget can easily get a pretty good one!

hmm.. are these the only places i can look out for upright digital pianos? are there any ongoing offers right now? i'm a beginner also.. same budget as threadstarter.. hoping to get one near the clavinoca series ( in terms of looks/sound ).. possible?
