Hey guys... i am a beginner learning electric guitar i am using a B.C Rich warbeast standard and a marshall MG10 guitar combo.... i am into the metal types of music... may i know what types of pedals i need ? i am much into the marshall brand and what are the other equipment i need other than a guitar tuner, some picks ???

Thank you for ur elightenment :)

For metal you'd definitely need a good distortion pedal. VS Jekyll and Hyde is a good pedal, however I'm not sure how well for metal. If you're just starting out you probably can't go wrong with a $20 Danelectro Heavy Metal distortion pedal though. Cheap and good.

Thanks for your helps.... are there any other pedals i need other than distortion? And how about the marshall jackhammer? someone recommended it to me

Well I've heard good things about the jackhammer, but no personal experience.

Other pedals... Maybe a delay or echo?

quite a few metal guitarists uses a tube screamer kinda boost in front of their high gain drive channel. so you can get a high gain drive pedal.. and maybe a TS-based overdrive. and you would need a noise gate kinda pedal. yeah.

oh ok.... i will take that into consideration... but... i am in quite a budget haha xD u know.. i am a small kid saving money lol so can you all tell me the necessary pedals? like i dont need those special effects so can i just take the distortion and another 1? please give some recommendations

haha I am a student too. I know haha.... if you are on a budget, check out the danelectro cool cat pedals. I think they have some metal pedals.. and if you want a tube screamer kinda overdrive, take a look at biyang od-7 or ibanez ts-7 (the tone lok series. not the green colour one). another good booster recommended by quite a few people is the MXR wylde overdrive.

the cool cat and the biyang should cost you less than 100 if standardvalue is still selling the biyang at 60+ the cool cat is around 30+ for the pedal. and the tonelok ts-7 is about 100+ from sweelee. you can consider buying used pedals too.

cool!!!!! but.... i heard from other people that marshall pedals cost a bomb but it is good and i am just a noob anyway.... can i just get a distortion and practice first? and i am wondering where can i learn electric guitar.....

i think i should get metal sounding pedal too.. i love metal sound but can't really get the ideal sound just yet. all i have now is a mt-2 boss which is like 16 years old ready. its gonna crack soon. i need a new pedal but don't really know which one is good. u guys have good recommendation.. this really helps! thanks guys! :)

+1 to the Beta Aivin HM-200. A very good-sounding pedal for the cheap price. It's not the best out there, in fact it can get pretty muddy sometimes, but it certainly sounds exceptional for the price. Definitely light years better than the Boss MT-2 which costs a lot more. I've heard the Boss MT-2 and never want to hear it again...

O.O Is that a vintage pedal or what?

The Boss MT-2 has been around that long? I didn't know that! I thought it came after the HM series (which I feel frankly Boss should never have discontinued).

hmm,try the marshall Jackhammer, sounds really nice.
just dont set the volume on it high,it can give a really loud boost :)

check out what pedals dimebag (ex-Pantera) uses (he uses 2 distortion pedals at once if i recall correctly).
he's got great heavy distortion tone.... one of my fav if im going for extreme gain.

VS Jekyll and Hyde is a good pedal, however I'm not sure how well for metal.

The version 1 distortion is kickass. Turn tone and gain to max and put on sharp mode... Damn powerful, massive gain lol... But a bit too brutal for me :P The footswitch seems to give people problems though.
