I left a bass guitar in a taxi

As above, I would need some help in keeping an eye out for it, it's a Craftsman copy of a Fender jazz/sadowsky starburst bass (I think), which means it's a craftsman FJ-10

I left it in a trans cab taxi and I'm worried the cab driver might try to sell it and not report it to his company. The problem is i didn't catch the cab driver's name nor the taxi's license plate number.

If anybody has any links on a potentially suspicious bass, please contact me at 97530686. It's my friend's bass, I have a hunch I'll probably have to end up buying a replacement.

*edit* There are winnie the pooh stickers on the knobs (it belongs to a girl). Should help identification somewhat.

Yes I have called them, last night, but last night's shift has ended, the driver should have at least reported his has a large black bag in his boot by now! At least I can actually buy a replacement at a reasonable price... If it was one of my guitars...

will look out for it, but call the taxi company and try to give them a description of the items or taxi driver or ride. They CAN check who is it if u give them your journey's starting point, ending point, time, duration, etc...

Call the taxi cab again and leave your contact details.

I had the same experience before, but of smaller scale. I left my wallet and when i called, they said none of their drivers reported anything. I left my name, number, and address, and after 2 weeks, I received my wallet in the mail, everything in tact.

In the boot, yes it sucks, I can't even play my guitar without my find flitting back to the bass! I'd be fine if she was ok with me just buying a new bass for her but ARGH, it's not that simple!

I don't understand why u have to put the bass in the boot and then clean forgotten about it. Were u carrying lots of things at that time?

Anyway, hope ur fren gets her bass back. Must be really heartbreaking for her.

You must have been in a hurry or something to forget you had a bass guitar with you! Don't worry too much, I have had so many friends with similar experiences in cabs, and almost, if not all, had their stuff returned.

You gave the details such as the start of trip, pick-up point, destination and end of trip right? A close friend only had to give those 4 details and within an hour he got his misplaced ipod back.

Apparently every cab's every official movement is logged into a system. Official movement as in whenever they pick up a passenger and start the meter. Pretty cool huh

I was in no horrible hurry, but rather I had a frazzled mind. Just before I got onto a cab, I went for a little nibble. It so happened I did not have enough money. Fine, I went to the nearby ATM, after queueing for 10 minutes and clearing the 10 people in front of me, the ATM ran out of money. It got so desperate that the friend who was with me jumped into a cab, 2 streets down, drew money from an ATM. This whole fiasco was 45 minutes of pure stress. We then forgot we had a bass with us.

Yeah man I'll keep an eye out for your bass guitar. Must be shit to be in your situation though. I've lost a sentimental gift of my friend's before... she went all nunchuk-wielding shitting on me. =s

Exaggeration, but know that I can empathize with you. :)
