on my guitar and i Dont know, but It seems like when i raised the pickups the sounds is More Chunkier?? or is it just me..

Higher = more output, thus chunkier.

I'm sure some one will come along with a more detailed explanation.

it does affect your tone...the closer to your strings, the more output, the more string pull, hence less sustain and tend to sound muddier if too close..

if you really wanna clear up your tone and make it punchier, you should lower your pickups slightly and adjust the pole pieces so that their relative heights mirror the radius of the fretboard/the string heights.

im playing master of puppets now and i LOVE IT!~!!~ MASTER!! MASTERRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think so, not sure what pole pieces meant.

Cause basically I raise my action of my guitar and my single coil sounded damn off on my Marshall. It had a nice clear sound on distortion channel before I raised the action.

The sound became really muddy, dirty and awful. Lost the strat sound. I tried lowering the pickups but no use, its still quite bad. So hope to work with the pole pieces thing. Some guidance maybe?

i guess the strat sound doesnt really suit my taste then, oh well... i'll try to mess around with it summore..

the way u raised ur Pups was by turning the screws right ???

pole pieces are the ones tt look like screws on ur pickups. usully on humbuckers.

singlecoils i haven seen one with adjustable polepieces. there are either flat or pre adjusted aleady. those staggered polepieces ones.

Oh so that means I cannot change the height of those 'pole pieces'? I mean I know what you mean, not those humbucker ones.

But is there other way to get back my old sound with high action? I've actually lowered the pickups to a fairly low height...

heres an idea O.o

get a ruler with MM mesurements,,, Look for the original heights and measure them to the original specs.. and there u go ??

adjusting pole pieces is pretty easy, but you can only do it on pickups that have adjustable pole pieces (obviously). most humbuckers/p90s have them. just take a screwdriver and raise/lower the pole pieces so that their relative heights match the relative heights of the strings. it really evens out the string-to-string volume level, and (at least for me) it makes your chords sound more punchy because the 3rd and 4th strings are louder. i have to give credit to marcus from vertical rush for this, after he did it to my prs i fell in love with the sound all over again.

lower till u find a sweet spot that you like. i prefer my pickups quite low too high and it gets a tad harsh.

I like mine high. :) Captures harmonics better and gets the bite I like.

Kwerty, its a bit strange that your tone doesnt' come back after you lowered the pups back to its original height.

Check your amp settings or something.. might be other factors you've overlooked.
