When I connect my Boss Gt 10 pedal to my amp and on the distortion from the gt 10 will have humming noise, what is the cause of it?
My cables are noiseless cables so can't be cables it works well with my guitar connecting direct to the amp
My earthing can't be the problem because both my amp and gt 10 uses 3 pin plugs.
My guitar pickup is a humbucker so not suppose to have humming sound.

Most distortion or drive pedals or effects will give out such noise when engaged. It's fairly normal.

Try setting your threshold and release at the noise gate section bro, might be ur gain too much also, mine i just put around the level 45 to 55 max on the preamp gains. the threshold and release not too much cause it will kill the tone, take away ur feedback also.

if the hum exist in all channels or when your guitar volume is off then it should be the mechanical prob, not the GT-10 buddy.

in my opinion, if set properly, most drive pedals or effects will not have such noise when engage. If it does i wont stop setting it till its properly suit my taste of complete silence when needed.

the clean tones are ok only the distortion. I hate to use noise gates because it will kill the tone so which means there will be humming sound if I turn up the gain reguardless of anything else? no way to stop it?

then it should just be ur settings, shouldnt have mechanical probs

yeah bro, i really agree with u, but cant be help, from the GT 6,8 and 10 no choice have to use noise gate, but if u use is around minimal which for me around release 30 level, its fine, anything above 50 it will eat ur feedback and tone and harmonic etc, my advise is check through the loop orders, and try use minimal, for distortion i just use the vin mesa preamp. dats it. but when solo channels i add reverb, delay and comp in the 1st of the loop, though have to increase the noise gate slightly more but thats the only choice bro.

One of my friend who also uses GT for very long time also mention the importance of output select, most uses the JC 120, i prefer the line/phones out, its more clear also, and when u do recording no need to like reset the master settings. keep trying bro, if still cannot just pm me we meet and play the toys together and share what we know. Cheers buddy.
