Humming generated from guitar or amp?

hi guys,

recently my guitar starts to hum.

when i cover the strings, the humming is minimised and I when touched the tuners, the hum disappears.

could it be shielding of the pick ups or is the jack of my amp is faulty???

is there a way to tell if it is my guitar or amp cos I do not want to go thru the hazards of transporting my gears up and down the repair shop.

btw, if i set all the knobs full on my amp, disconnect my guitar and there is no humming from the amp itself, can it be narrow down that my guitar is the culprit?

thanks!!!!

I guess this si the same question as i posted before so here's what i found out. But first, just a few questions.

Does the hum only happen when your amp is on a high gain setting?

Cause if it is, its your amp.

How to solve it?
Lower your gain, or get a Noise Gate/Reduction pedal.

sometimes it all lies down to what distortion pedal you used. or maybe its your pedals that are causing the humming if you're using. if you use daisy chains , sometimes for some pedals it will hum. and its normal to hum abit whenever you on your distortion , so maybe its your gears? Well , my guitar had a humming problem so badly till when i put the volume to 0 , it will still hum. anyway could'nt be your amp , another way is to find out is when you go jamming , see if its humming or not! :D

guys thanks for reading my post... it has been solved... its the amp's 2 pin plug causing the humming.
