How to tune frm Standard E to Drop A# tuning manually?

A#? my god. u can bend the string once around the neck! hahah. use a tuner. easy. but i've never heard of anyone tune to A#. unless its a 7 string guitar? lol

the E string would be so floppy..
here goes (assuming your A-D-G-B-E remain the same, untouched.):
u make your low E sound like your A-string when you fret the low E on the 11th fret.

like maybe a bass string
then you would have to make some space on the nut too. your bridge also have to check, depending if your using tremolo/hardtail setup.. leycheh wor hehe

lol manually? unless you are using a gibson robot guitar right? ha...

For drop A#, you will need very thick strings. For a similar tension to a set of 0.10" gauge strings, you need 0.70", 0.48", 0.38", 0.28" (preferably wounded), 0.17", 0.13"

Seriously, get a 7 string guitar yea?

lol. guys guys. i've tried to tune manually once. and i did it the hard way cos i dint have a tuner[still don't have nw]. n erm. those thick strings aren't so necessary as i used the 0.42 on the low E string and still produces sounds : )
well bands that tune to Drop A# includes bring me the horizon, suicide silence.
i'm into bmth stuffs. so wuz wunderin how i can get the tuning rage without a tuner.

use a piano(or any other instruments/computer programs) and tune it by ear. alternatively, you can use audacity (it's a freeware) and transpose the song to your tuning so that you don't have to tune your guitar. it's a lot easier that way

If you know where the notes are on the fretboard, you can use a tuning fork. I used to use digital tuners but lately I've been using tuning forks because I find them consistent, reliable and best of all, they don't need batteries or any power source!

hmm. detuning the e string to a#?

i detuned mine to A and it still sounds good with gauge 0.46. the string is not really flabby and didnt hit the frets much while letting it ring.
but yeah, if you want the string to have the same tension as the rest of the strings, change to a much much heavier gauge. and im not sure exactly what gauge tho.

i used 0.51 last time and its quite ok but still abit flabby though. haha

lol. im quite confortable with the flabbiness though : )
0.42 gauge strings. yes i'm nuts
hehehe
i tune down to drop A# the hard way. via drop D,Drop C,Drop B and finally Drop A#.
About the tuning fork. i'll bang it to produce a sound and still have no idea how to use it =.="

ianxcor:u better change ur strings to a really heavy gauge for this tuning cos ur neck would get damaged.tune back to standard, you might find the neck level profile slightly different and get really bad fret buzz
try a gauge of 0.70-0.13
Nile uses those gauge for drop A tunings

duh!

a quick search over at www.google.com would prolly list out sites in the number of hundred to thousands with many tunings.

this kind of question also must wait for people to reply in forum. Hehe, by the time anyone reply, i think my son will be ready for primary one

dont say i never help, here!
