How To Sing While Playing A Guitar

Hi I Am New Here, I Not Very Whether Am I Posting At The Correct Place,
Kind Of Confused So Posted The Thread Here.

My Problem:
I Am Currently Learning Acoustic And Electric Guitar, And I Love Singing Too. BUT, I Can't Sing While Playing The Guitar And I Can't Play The Guitar When I Sing =[
When I Focus On Singing, My Strumming Motion And Tempo Just Got So Messed Up ; I Tend To Follow/Strum The Rhythm Or Syllabus Of The Lyrics Or I Just Cannot Play The Chords Properly.
When I Focus On Strumming, My Singing Just Follow The Rhythm Of The Strumming Pattern Of My Guitar , Just Like When I Am Suppose To Sing In Crotchet, My Strumming Patterns Are In Quaver, But IN The End I Sang In Quaver Counts, And Sometimes, I Cannot Control Or deliver The Kind Of Voice Or Tone I Want When I Am Strumming But The Moment I Stop I Can Continue Singing The Way I Want It To Sound

Here's My Question:

How To Sing And Play A Guitar At The Same Time?
Feel Free To Give Me Any Suggestion Or Tip Or Opinion Or Personal Experience.

Thank You In Advance :p

Wah Your Shift Key Work Quite Zai Ah, Every Word Start With A Capital Letter.. Haha (Btw I Used Microsoft Word To Do This)

Well, There Are A Few Levels Of Difficulty To Sing And Play Guitar. If You’re Doing Chords And Singing, Then Usually It’s Not A Problem Unless The Rhythm Is Damn Syncopated. If You’re Doing Lead Lines That Do Not Follow Lyrics, That’s Worse.

One Thing That Can Help Is To Tap Your Feet While Singing And Do That Too While Playing. Like This, You Can Train Independence Between Your Singing And Playing, So That Both Of Them Follow The Tempo Instead Of Each Other. Start Off With Simpler Songs. What Songs Are You Attempting Now Btw?

Oh Yes, I’m Sure You Realise By Now This Capital Thing Ain’t Fun Because It’s Damn Hard To Read

Thanks Alot MadWerewolfBoy

Regarding the shifts.
Sorry my bad x[
Use to typing and tapping the shift every word in the sentence.

The Tapping feet part, i tried already but now it go abit more messy cause now i cannot concentrate on tapping =[[[
But it certainly helped Me to coordinate alittle more when playing pieces that's much easier without those bar chords.

Oh, i am playing some chinese pops and trying out some j rock pieces with clean playing.
Cause I am still learning chords, at the same time those strumming patterns.

Don't worry about it. Just practice.... and practice with a metronome. The met is damn important.

Anyway, over time, you'll find that you can subconsciously move your leg by itself... and you'll subconsciously take note of it and time your playing. It's like you split your brain into more than one part, one part takes note of your singing, one part takes note of your playing, one part keeps time.

alexi laiho has a method, and it works.

while playing your chords, whisper the lyrics, over time you'd be able to sync them together

sweep while singing? i see a rising mustaine lol anw i cant even sweep consistantly let alone sweep plus singing
hmm i cant really sync well when there's alot of very fast chords changes but yea
but laiho looks creepy enough i just cant imagine him whispering and singing to himself :x
dont get me wrong tho alexi's great :D big fan of bodom here :D

Thanks alot everyone!!!

I Tried the metronome thing, It Works well for me but when it comes to changing of chords like... C to G, I got Very lost after that.
But the metronome manage to keep me in time.
Btw What's sweeping?
When I am home i am gonna try the whispering and playing thing.
xD

hahah thats why i said BASIC sweeping, those chord shaped one, where not much finger movement is needed.

and yea laiho is awesome!

haha i just think sweeping is awesomeness so yea missed out your"basic" haha
erm anw @Ts for me what i do is almost similiar to the metronome thing, just that i focus more on my strumming pattern and whenever i change notes i tend to strum alil harder to tell myself that yea time to change the note your singing or something like that :/

You can start by humming along to the guitar instead of singing the actual words. When you're more confident, then slowly replace the humming with the actual words.

and practise the guitar parts confidently until you do not have to 'think' and it becomes automatic.

anw yea when ur done with it post a link here :D

Try to find the point where you strum a chord(or each stroke), and sing a word(or syllable) simultaneously. Memorize these points, and eventually you will be able to do singing and guitar together.

@MadWereWolfBoy
Wow, I Didn't think that's possible when u said 'tap and sing', Imba cool vid, Thanks for sharing xD
@imkeith
Nah~ Then let's not say pointers, we change it to opinion then xDD
