how to sing high pitch

Well, the other point I want to make is to know how exactly your vocal chords work. In general, the theory is that lower output volume equals to higher pitches. In other words, you must reduce your volume output as you climb to the highest pitches.

Seconding! I forgot we were talking about high notes :s

Oh and don't breathe too hard through the mouth when you're using jamming studio or karaoke mics.. donno whose germs you're gonna be sucking in :P

hmmmm.....

Or farts, for that matter :p LOL

Aiyo just a caution lar cos I keep getting throat infections from mics.... Some people sick and they still sing.. then the next person sick... cannot lar... damn paranoid already haha

sage (and others who have the same problem) - you must get your own personal mikes...my RG female vox has her own - I'm getting my own too soon

For me when its a super long, full high note (more than 10 seconds note - e.g Simon & Garfunkel's bridge over troubled water crescendo or some journey track ) then I tend to grab a quick mouthful of air in a split second. Other than that I dont really having any breathing issues.

However I can only stray underwater maximum only 1 min or so (probably slighly under) ..weird aint it?

eh if im not wrong, proper breathing technique is when you breathe in, you stomach expands.
true or false?

Troo, Ms Vicko

In some rare cases, an purple-eyed flooshball shoots out of your mouth when you contract youse tummy... but no worries, just take more deep breaths to suck it back in...

Sorrryyy..... just woke up.... I go make coffeee.....

Oooh!!
Well uh... I haven't a clue how you do that :P you're the one to give the tips here lol

I think my previous experience with learning a woodwind instrument really helps my singing. Eg: knowing where to breathe, breath control, etc. As to how to sing from the diaphragm, you can try to lie down, just relax and breathe. Naturally, the tummy will go up and down. Then remember how it goes and try to do that during singing. Breathe deeply thru the mouth and push air down to the tummy. Singing time, squeeze the tummy for support.

To learn to sing high notes, just keep singing with the CD. Just like someone said earlier, need to expand the vocal range to the high pitches slowly. Sing along with Jeff Zhang. His voice is wayyyyy high. :)

Another thing to note for singing high pitches is NOT to start with a cold throat. Need to warm up first with mid range songs. I like to sing fast upbeat songs for warm ups. I find that after warming up, I can reach high notes easier and also sustain better.

And how not to go out of tune? Of course must know all the notes of the song well. But I find that it is important to pitch to the instruments as well. Especially singing slow songs with lots of sustain parts. Very obvious if I go out of tune. My ears need to be very active to find resonance with the guitar or the keyboard. I find that if I pitch to the instruments, the whole band would really sound as one. The vocal is fundamentally one of the instruments of the band anyway.

I'm not trained in singing. Just some of my own observations here. :D
