ok guys umm.almost all of the guys in my band have this problem of the pitch changing in the voice when singing high notes.( in malay its terkehel)
its like when you are reachin that high note and instead of reachin that desired note your voice suddenly changes and produces a kind of girly squeal.
so now i need your help on how to overcome this problem??
thanks a lot for taking your time to read my post :D

haha ive opened 20 over window and i wasn't bothered replying anyone but i just logn to answer ur post

I havent heard how u sing but i suppose that u have 2 of these issues:

1) U hv good singing techniques on the range u r comfortable with but when u hit a high note, u didnt produce enuff air, or what I call it vocal power, enuff to support high keys.

Because when u sing higher notes, ur vocal chord close even smaller, but there isn't sufficient air to coming out of that small gap of urs, resulting in a flat key.

2) similar to 1) but, its when u actually are able to sing a higher pitch, but the wrong technique used. U may be singing with ur diaphram on the normal range, but when the higher notes came in, u changed to ur lung air, so the voice is not as strong, as u hv change the singing technique. This results in a nt so round n colorful voice.

For 2) it is possible in some of the songs when u wan to express sadness etc, its not so called wrong, if its ur style n u intend to sing it this way.

For 1) its a definitely technical issue, means ur vocal is nt as strong for that note. U shld try to run the scale with ur vocal to see where is ur "last note" before u hit falsetto keys (mine so called vocal range changed).

For 1) im sure with some practise u shld be able to hit it. although the higher key u go the louder u shld be.

hmm, if i'm not wrong the technical term for is is cracking..

i guess it all depends on the technique the singer is using to achieve the range in the first place. if the note is actually within the vocalist's range, i.e the feeling you get in the chest and throat and head is mostly the same as singing other notes in the middle of the singer's range, then it may simply be an issue of air pressue, vocal techniques etc..

if the singer's actually using a mixed voice or a head voice to reach the range, it may just take getting used to, being able to control the voice's volume in that range. here practice and more practice with singing in that range using that funky voice(don't know what to call it, not so sure it's the same as head voice) may actually help =) perhaps it may be good to work your way up the volume scale slowly, hehh.

Reason: Not enough power

Look at: Diaphragm

Solution: Utilize it. Push the force upward. You should feel outward pressure around your abs area and your kidney

Additional Tip: Warm up the throat. So as not to tire easily and the voice wouldn't sound different after extensive period of singing.

My penny's worth.
