Yea... How to record multi track sounds with computer?? i've got the program already. But how do i plug in the guitars and stuff. And also the drums, how do i get the sound of it into the computer?? Do i have to get some sound card and adaptors to get the guitar cables into the computer?

most basic of basic setup:

guitar > line-in/mic input of PC sound card

u can get the 1/4" to 1/8" converters at any diy store. however, look out for them in electronic marts and pay a good amount for a good quality one as it is worth it.

go into mixer (double click volume tray in windows) and check the properties, make sure playback of mic and line-in is enabled.

drum u can use a drum sampler which is a "drum programming software".

otherwise it is out of your scope i assume. u need to mic up the drums and what not. if u have an electronic kit, then can plug in MIDI out from the trigger module into the MIDI in of PC or get a MIDI-USB connector.

:)

sorry its 1/4" (quarter-inch) to 1/8", big hole at one end to plug in ur guitar jack, and small pin on the other to plug into ur pc mic/line-in (like the jacks present on music player earphones for example).

you can get a soundcard if u want to. but u can use ur computer's onboard sound. The mic and line-in already existent in ur pc is the onboard sound "card" inputs.

if ur recording for fun only, no point spending more money.

you haven't told us what software you bought

by the way, in case you don't want to D.I (direct line in) from guitar > soundcard.

the other method is , some ppl don't realise headphones/earphones can be used as mics too.

guitar>amp > earphone at speaker cone > mic in (red hole) of your soundcard.

hey, ive been facing latency during recording while using a multi track recorder. like when i play the guitar, it takes some time before it plays through the com's monitors. why is this so and how do i remove or minimize this problem?

btw im using ableton and my input's from a line6 toneport ux1 (and 1.5gb ram onboard 2.4ghz dc processor). hope you can help!

hmm try the settings of the UX1 config panel if there's any?

i'm not too sure myself actually cos i don't have a UX1. but to have 2.4ghz and 1.5gb ram shouldn't be a problem for 1 track. do you have any other softwares running in your windows or try defragment first or somethin?

can't be much help here sorry.
