How to pronounce gauge ?

English education here has a slight deficiency. It's British-based, but 99% of speakers don't know the difference, or that they're more inclined towards "King's English". Worse, the educators themselves can't be bothered, often times being the ones harbouring the wrong pronunciation or spelling.

For one, the media and web are dominated by Americans. Or rather, the majority of the viewership and traffic are based around American productions and services. People everywhere are turning into Non-American Americans. Snobs in Singapore try to speak with an ugly tak-leh-make-it American accent, likewise for foreign students especially those from Indonesia except much better. I like the Filipinos, though - their English has an innocent Hispanic influence.

Even modern British teens are becoming Americanised. Oops, I mean Americanized.

hehe! the word 'gauge' deserves 5 pages of its own?! ~_~

Why don't you people check the dictionary? XD

according to cambridge dictionary
http://dictionary.cambridge.org/define.asp?key=32317&dict=CALD

Cambridge Dictionary said:
gauge verb (MEASURE)
(US also gage) /geɪdʒ/ v [T]

so there is no "gaugh" (the one that sounds more like "gag")
but there is "gage" for US (i think, i *think* it is gage as in engage).
"geɪdʒ": gey'dch. something like that.

The answer has been discovered. *plays victory fanfare by Nobuto Uematsu* (you, who don't know what's that, go play some Final Fantasy and give yourself some bliss.)
