This looks interesting. Well, you can look into youtube and see how they play. from there, you can roughly know they keys. ( I tried that b4, but it takes long long time). Or you can do wat cheez say, practice your appegios chops.
Anyway, i like Jordan Rudess. But, his songs and playing are very technical ( Julliard school student + perfect pitch, of coz powerlar). Sometimes i feel if too technical, i doubt it can communicate with the listener. just my 2 cents.
Jazzfish, i also agree with you. I prefer something that contains enough technical part, but not too much. Chromatix, why don't you try learning songs from Niacin? they have a nice groove and licks.
Cheez, can you further explain what you mean by "If I want to show musicality and technique, there are lots of other things I would do other than that." Howleh? izzit dynamics ar?
