i'm having this prob. i started learning electric just recently. i can read notes as i'm a piano player. but i dunno how 2 play it on the fretboard. i look at websites, they give tabs. i agree tabs is great, but i think my classical background spoil my head as i always prefer notes over to tabs.

anyone can help me? i wish i can play the guitar like i play the pianolar

You have an advantage over everyone else I know learning guitar, including me. You know your theory already. Buy a chord book, and just memorise the note positions, and how they get "inverted" across the fretboard due to the different strings.

You classical training will come in handy along the way.

Another alternative is to get scale charts with fingerings, and these charts have the actual notes written on the fretboard. Memorise these note positions, and apply your already memorised scales over it.
