How to maintain a keyboard?

Keep it in a dirt-free place (as if such a place exists!!!). Cloth cover - essential. Wipe it once in a while - keys and everything. Don't use anything corosive to wipe it, and don't get water into it. And above all, keep it away from toddlers without your supervision! My son climbed the shelf the other day to get a book - he fell, knocked the keyboard and the keyboard stand broke into pieces. Good thing my son and the keyboard are not broken!

Also keep it away from direct sunlight (ie away from windows).

Ahjon, which keyboard are you using?

other than cleaning, try not to set the lcd screen to full brightness. it will burn out faster. press the buttons with a light touch. once 1 button loss the contact, you will have to replace the whole button board.

oh my god light touch!!! i have been hitting my keyboard with quite a heavy touch though . i am now so scare to even prastice hanon on it . i have to go to the acoustic piano to prastice instead. grrr will my keys control really spoil if i excute too much a strenght on the keys?

What if you have stuck keys? ie press the key down and it takes awhile to come back up or it stays down.

if it is an acoutic piano, i will just open everything and file the side of the key. usually it is moisture that causes it to bloat and rub against the neighbouring key.

but for electronic piano/keyboard, i just bring it back to the shop.

Wah, if it's an acoustic piano, I wouldn't dare file anything. What is done is irreversible, and the keys are not easy to replace. I'll still ask the piano tech people to take a look at it.

ha..ha.. i called in the technician whenever i have this problem, then i realised he also just file the sides of the keys. then my father got adventurous and say we do it ourselves.

* disclaimer: this is my own experience, not to serve as a solution to others' problem.
