Hey there guys,

I just gotten a goose boosty off a trade and it has a scratchy pot when you turn the dial while it's on and there's a pop sound when it's switched on or off... anyone out there would be able to help/advice as to what to do to get rid of these problems? i kinda like the boost so wouldn't wanna return it to the guy i traded it for unless i really cant get rid of the problem? thks in advance :)

WD40 on the scratchy pot? but the noisy popping switch?? WD40 it too?? or would contact spray be a better alternative?

u can't get rid of the pop sound unless its bufferred. as for the pot, you can either use wd40, spray the insides, or u can change the pot.

hmm...how do u get it buffered then? sorry for the noob question...really like this pedal so dun wanna return it..hehe...it does a good clean boost pushing my amp into overdrive...and it definitely sounds crazy when stacked with my OD pedal :)

DO NOT USE WD40!!!!!

I REPEAT DO NOT USE WD40!!!

Use some electronic contact cleaner, you can get this at hardware stores, try your neighbourhood homefix. If you can, find the one made by philips.

Good stuff, your pots will no longer be scratchy, but try not to use too much or your pots will become very fast and slippery to the turn.

why do not use wd40?

a better solution would be to pm goose, and ask him whether he has warranty on the pedal. then bring to him and change the pots.

WD40 is a lubricant.

It is by no means a electronics contact cleaner...

By using WD40, you'll probably end up creating loads of gunk buildup on the inside of the pot.

WD40 is a wax based insulator and will add to the resistance between contacts & the wiper/track interface in pots.

A proper electronics contact cleaner will clear away all residue or dirt inhibiting the pot's proper operation and then just evaporate.

FTLOG Don't use WD40.

AH. no wonder i keep changing pots. basket, i shall do my own electronic work from now on instead of sending to places that use wd40.

Always use contact cleaner.

Even if you come across a pot which does not even budge, I would probably change the entire pot than spray WD40...knowing full well that WD40 would potentially "contaminate" the rest of my guitar/amp's circuitry.

:D

Just a tip of course, I didn't mean to come off harsh.

None taken bro.

I learn something new everyday. besides, i do electronics work such as changing pickups/pots for people. so yeah. whoops!

My apologies to all whose pots i've sprayed with WD40.
