How to eliminate feedback noise?

hi all,

i'm facing some kinda problem with my pedals, which i've connected all of them in a "pedal-train" manner. whenever i switched on the amp in the studio, it always generated some kinda endless buzzing noise. so what is the problem here?

do i have to get a Noise-Reduction pedal, or a good cable or what?

i'm still an amateur in this, so i would like to seek for your guidances.

thanks!

Check your pedals gain. Balance them with the amps gain. Wait!!! Buzzing of feedback? You're using strat or what?

Single coils have hum.

So i think it might be your gains knob. Try to balance your gain pedals & amps gain.

thank you very much, leecs! :- )

one more question, so when do i use a noise reduction pedal then?
when i'm connecting too many effects together?

Feedback like buzzing definitely not from singlecoil pickups. So it cannot be a singlecoil issue.

Whether you have two or twenty pedals, place the noisegate pedal at the end of the chain just before the amp, because any one of your pedals could generate noise, but by putting it at the end of the chain it cuts out noise just before reaching the amp.

If still got feedback, then there's a problem with the amp.

huh? Theres no rock & roll with noise reduction pedal man!!!!!!!!!

If you really want, get a Boss NS2. Stick your drive pedals into the send/return. Your other pedals, stick it into the in/out.

i agree with ya that we definitely need some noise for our soul of rock & roll, but not with that kinda irritating buzzing noise, even when my hand is holding the strings tight. haha..

hmm... Boss NS2! thanks dude!

Hmmm... Not sure what I'd recommend, because I personally don't use a noisegate. While I used my Uber Metal, I'd use its built-in noisegate.

What's your budget? I've been hearing good things about the ISP Noise Decimator.

Do you use a lot of gain? Is it feedback, or is it just a constant hum? It's kinda different.

Frankly, after all this while, I've never felt like I ever needed a noise reduction pedal.

As mentioned in the prior replies, there are many factors that can contribute to your 'feedback', such as grounding issues (both amp and axe), connection issues etc.

Try cleaning all the jacks and contacts and look out for the grounding part.
