How to buy/use pedals?

im just wondering which type of pedal i should buy as its my first time buying pedals haha
Im thinking of getting a basic distortion pedal, is there any brand to recommend and maybe include the price of different brands. And maybe can tell me abit more about different types of pedals, i kinda wanna get a delay pedal too but i dont know how to use it (getting one so i can play two guitar parts like the yeah yeah yeahs songs haha)

since it is your first time buying pedals, you can consider a cheaper multi effect pedal so you can try out and get to know the different effects. I think zoom g3x would be a good starting point.

basic distortion.. if you choose not to buy a multi effect, you can get a distortion pedal. different distortion pedals for different genres, so what kind of music do you like to play?

generally delay pedals won't give you two guitar parts, I think you meant using a looper pedal. but this would be very tricky to someone new to pedals.

Just go to the buy/sell section for efx pedals. I suppose you can easily find stuff like a BOSS DS-1 Distortion pedal at $50.

My first pedal I bought is a BOSS OS-2 Overdrive/Distortion. Pretty versatile pedal that can do stuff from Green Day to blues solo-ing. What's more? When adjusted with lesser drive at the overdrive area, you can actually use it as a boost for other pedals.

It's been on my board for quite some time and I'm still using it.

I normally would search youtube to hear the sound of the pedals. There are bunch of pedals demo on youtube. Find one that you like the most.
