Actually playing louder does give an extra crunch but I want more oomph!! even when playing at lower volume. Thought a booster might help here. I usually play at room level just nice enough for my own hearing.

huh.

You just said playing loud gives more but you still want to play softer but get that omph?

You have what?

A compressor, 2 x EQ pedals - the EH-2 and somehting else...

Its just your settings dude... and the amp settings / speaker size.

And you cannot get what loud volumes will give. There's something about upping it till it pushes the air, till the speaker shakes.

Scooped mids are nice to give your tone more clarity and let your low end come thru, so you can get a nice thump... but I would advise against it. Have some mids. Have lower mids. Don't scoop them. Your single notes sound like crap when you do that... if you insist on scooping your mids out, and you do leadwork, then get osmehting to up your mids when soloing or you'll sound thin and just... ugh.
