What can I do to achieve this insane distortion/fuzz?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzJxt9UJiWA

My gear:
LTD ESP AX-50
Ibanez TBX-15 Tone Blaster

I have tried many different sorts of pedals, nothing just seems to come close to it.(Maybe I got settings wrong but these are the ones I tried)

Boss:
DS-1
DS-2
MT-2

Digitech:
Death Metal
Bad Monkey

Any Idea what I can do to achieve that insane distortion/fuzz without actually getting the Pod 2.0?

Any recommended pedals that give that sort of sound?

What settings should I set my amp and pedal at?

P.S.
Theres 2 knobs on the "Mid" of my amp, what are they used for individually?

His tone sound kind of "digital" so i don't think you can find a pedal that has the exact tone as his.

But i'll recommend the Electro Harmonix metal muff.

aiya harrison, you may not like because you like the liquidy goodness and warmth of tube amps. But I think that tone is pretty nice, I'm into very harsh and cutting tones.

Even the reviewer said that the tone is not intended, and is "much better" on his other songs..

So you want INTENSE distortion? The idea is not Gain Gain Gain, but rather, Headroom Headroom Headroom..
Try squeezing a huge wall of sound on a 10W solid state amp with 8" speakers..
Then try it on a much larger amp with 2x12" speakers..
And then try a Boogie with 4x12" speakers!

You want it in a pedal?
Cheapest is I suppose the Metal Muff (which must be LOUDDDD to be appreciated)..
Something more recent is the Seventheaven which looks DAMN promising.. More expensive, but you get what you pay for!

Treble boost. Alot of treble boost. Fair amount of bass. Hell lot of distortion. Dislike the sound alot, but it's pretty good for core songs I guess?

Cheers,
WWH

Where can I find that electro-harmonix metal muff pedal?

You can get it at TYMC at Peninsular. Price should be around $170. That's the price that I got it at.

Hydrofly: Do you stack your Blackstar with the Metal Muff?. How's the tone like?. Crunching? Chugga chugga?.

VERY chugga chugga with hefty amounts of scream and crunch.

My settings are as follows,
Blackstar - Gain 1 at minimum (I mean ZERO)
Gain 2 slightly lower than 9 o'clock (very low but enough)

Metal Muff - All EQ knobs around 12 o' clock. Slightly more than 12 on bass and treble

Gain Knob, 9 o'clock or slightly less.

Surprisingly, this set up is very quiet.

It sounds like a naturally over driven signal. I get that kind of sound when I pump in too much gain into the pre-amp and the signal breaks up just like the vid. Fuzzy.
