Hi ,

1. Want to know how much does it cost to make a radio quality album (5 songs...)....I already have the tunes and trying to get a lyricist...I just neeed an arranger who can take some lumsum money from me....and manage (i) the BGm of all songs (ii) Keyboard and other soft instumnets (iii) Vocal recording incl singer (iv) Dumping in the studio/ mixing (v) Mastering.....

i.e. if we have tunes n lyrics for all songs (say 5)....how much may it cost us to get it professionally arranged and recorded with vocals.

2. Btw heard somewhere that an audio album according to singapore entertainment law should contain atleast 40mins of music...is it true?

Thanks

1) Depending on how long you take to record the album. Studios charge by the hour unless you can get a package from them. Meaning you'd need to commit to a certain amount of hours.

2) Gotch meh?

Thanks...any idea about the type of packages they offer....actually planning to go to some of them tomorrow and find out...just wanted to have some knowledge b4 going to them

Thanks,

Looking at your situation, you seem to be only composing the tune itself and lack of lyrics still. You require a lyricist/arranger/recording/mixing+mastering. Let's say u've gotten the lyrics to your songs now, or have gotten help from any friends who writes lyrics for free. You will need an arranger to arrange your songs now, what kind of arrangement are u looking for? Proffesionals can cost up to a few thousand per song(those good ones), and some are cheap, some are free labour (any friend that arranges stuffs and wants some credit). U have to understand that, if u are just a composer, without the knowledge of how to arrange or produce your own tracks and you want to release your album, it is very tough unless you have the money or you are signed under a label that is willing to produce your album. Next , recording costs, they vary. From 50/hr to 70/hr, some more some less. Some have special packages some don't. Special packages would probably be something like $450 for 10 hours, depending on the studio itself. Include a few hours of mixing hour. Some places charge mastering per song. Depending on what u require to record, i think if its vocal only, it would not take very long. Bands usually require a much longer period of time to get their recordings done.

No there aint such a law..

singapore law only permits thumping techno beats with peeps singing a language we singaporeans dont even know .. in the records.. really.. ask mats hanging around orchard..

Thanks Teraslasch for the info.....actually I prefer to arrange by myself....I prefer to take my own time and do without ne deadlines..... .... But just wanted to know how much does it cost...because my keyboard playing level is not professional..and dont have much knowledge abt chords etc...so wanted someone to give a professional touch the songs...also I donot have proper ear training and not so confident in deciding if a singer is singing off pitch or not....so wanted some professional guidance in the over all process.....but as u said looks like its gonna be costly...so will look at other alternatives...thanks once again

A place in the East part of Singapore, where the Kembangan and Tanah Merah MRT stations, software is aplenty in the heartlands.

If you get caught by mata for something other than criminal intimidation, good luck!

while home recording is a fun thing to do, i suggest not to go this way if you want to do it fast and painlessly.

seriously, if your melody is strong, can do a ok arrangement rather fast. about $300 per song.

also, imagine all the hardware+software you got to invest and learn.

Where?? Let's do it. After that, we can go Simpang Bedok for prata with Avonrallets!

The two shops near pizza hut @ Bedok. Frankly the offerings don´t attract me since I don´t need most of the stuff they offer. And I pass by the area too often anyway.

But prata with you guys and Avonrellets is steady!
