How much do we know?

I was talking to my cousin , who inspires to be a singer, and it occured to me that, he didn't now any aspects of the music business. Music aside, how much do we really know about this business that we all desperatly want to get into and show our passion? How much do we undertand to really give ur best?

Every business has its intricacies. Even basic stuff like schooling.
However, hard work and passion will always remain imperative and at the end of the day, it is those two particular factors again that will pull you through.

in every aspect of a business, its all about the product and the marketing, catering to the demand of the consumers. I feel that you cannot cast music considerations aside from the business in this case.

The first thing is, is there or will there be a demand for your kind/genre of music? Do you have a small following already? Can your cousin sing? Can you all perform the same as or better than your record live? Do you have an image that suits or is relevant to your genre of music? Good looks? All this adds up to the product. Without a sellable product, you can forget about the marketing. I avoid using the word "Good" when it comes to music or product because Good is subjective to everyone. In the business world, Good = Profitable.

Keep in mind in business, everything is about profits.
