How much are you willing to pay for local bands?

Have been reading all these threads about supporting the local music scene, either monetarily or in kind... but I was just wondering: how many people are willing to pay for local bands?
I don't mean buying CDs, or even paying for downloads. I'm talking about paying to see them play at Timbre, Arts House, whatever venues possible.
Would you pay $2? $5? $10? Btw, this also means that you still must pay for drinks at these venues, etc...
And who would you pay to see? Electrico? The Obs? The Sexies? GSE? WGB? Audiocean?
This would actually give a good indication of whether the music scene can survive or not. This gives an indication to the bands how popular they are...
Just me ranting. What do you guys think?

i paid $15 for bquartet album launch, bought the CD at $16.

inch chua's bedroom was free.

baybeats was free, but i bought the rnrm CD at $15.

homeclub gigs are about $12 to $15 a pop. went for la dies 8th anniversary last week. but overall i can't rem how many i've been to but less and less in recent times.

most memorable paid shows I've been from the top of my head.

$12 or $15 (dont remember) for Stasis 10. The last Stasis ever at Substation with Plainsunset, GSE, ATC, Vertical Rush, Leeson etc. Still one of the best gigs I've been to.

$25 for GSE's recital studio show at Esplanade.

$15 or $20 (don't remember) for I Am David Sparkle's From Texas and Back at Homeclub.

$15 for Transitions Spilt EP Launch, recently held at Scape the Lab.

$?? for Plainsunset Album Launch at Zouk. Don't remember if we had to pay. I remember you get a ticket from every purchase of their album.

I'd love to go to more local gigs and concerts, but as a student, there's limitations. So most of the times price plays a part. As you can see the highest I have paid is 25 for a local gig, and that's only because I'm a huge fan of GSE.

The best thing about paying to a local gig, is you can easily separate the real fans than the fair weathered ones who only come to mosh at Esplanade for free because their friends say theres a gig. Also, I notice at these paid gigs, there's alot of familiar faces. Dunno if thats a good thing or a bad thing.

to me its not merely the band but the entire gig as a whole. like if it was damn happening with free booze and chicks getting crazy then 50 bucks also can

there are some clubs with chicks getting crazy as a career choice. but thats another forum altogther.

Depends. I'd spend 30 bucks on the AoTS album, no problem, and not simply because I'm friends with the band and want to support them. I wish I could say the same for other local acts.

usually its for a gig as a whole, but i've paid 8 bucks to watch just a friend's band perform before.

usually depends on who's playing though.

i dunno, but i've been for some pretty crappy gigs b4 which were worth not even a fraction of what the entry fee's worth...

as long as the gig is good, local or not, i don't see an issue.

haha! I laughed when I see the sentence 'like if it was damn happening with free booze and CHICKS GETTING CRAZY,then 50 bucks also can.'
Haha! Nice nice!

For me,
I must say $10 for local band.
For Non-Muslims,gets free flow of BEER!

Organised events like Doomsday and Resurrection where i paid alot to buy Rudra's albums , Tees , AOTS albums , Draconis Infernum's album . Got Oshiego's and Thy Fallen Kingdom's CD for free . Bought Wormrot's album . I practically buy alot during gigs . I will pay 100 dollars to watch Mighty Impiety . I would pay more to watch Impiety , As Sahar , IronFist and Rudra perform . Cos i love the local metal scene and i have not lost faith in it .

i just got back from concave scream's gig.

Paid $28 to watch them.. also bought 2 of their old albums there for 20 bux each. would have bought the new album AGAIN just because they used a book which i liked.. but i didn't have enough money. hehe..

all in all.. it was worth every single cent!!!

Hmm, I guess it depends on the number of good bands are playing. I'm not talking about established bands only. I don't mind paying up to $30 if there were new bands playing IF THEY ARE GOOD. No need to add in drinks or whatsoever, just ensure there's enough sitting/standing space and a good audience with good performances and I'll be willing to pay for it

Of course, don't charge really weird prices over $30 to $40 unless you've got a really good, solid line-up in store
