Hello softie, i am just wondering is playing the guitar below ur waist a wrong technique?? Because when i play my guitar way below my waist, i find it very difficult to position my fingers when i play a chord high up the fret.

Ur sincere advice is my gain. thank you...

..

it depends bro..

if u wanna look cool,u might wanna hang low ur guitar..
if u wanna play well, u gotta brg it up..

i put my guitar at my waist level..
it allows better access to the higher frets, and better control of the instrument..

even after 11 years, it still stays at my waist..

but all and all, it depends on ur kind of music bro..
if its punkrock or anything like that, u can hang low ur guitar cuz u normally would require to do rhythms most of the time..

but if u play lead, u need better precisions and better control..

proper posture

Hey man

you should try to have it above the waist or waist level at least....

having a good posture or height ensures you grab your guitar neck at a good angle and press the chords well.

its not good for your hands to have to stoop so low, you will only cause damage to them due to RSI (repetitive strain injuries).

looking cool is one thing but injuring yourself in the process isnt cool at all.

if you arent convinced, go google on certain guitar players who hang their guitars low and had/have to go for physiotherapy to correct their injuries.

yeah.. but it's easier to play that way (to me)..

isnt it very hot when your hair is long? lol.. it's artistic though.. haha.

hahha i was just poking fun at petrucci lah.. his muscles are SO DAMN HUGE... if he's not shredding away he's at the jim pumping his pecs..

yes its really hot actually. very very irritating when eating, or when there's a fan blowing in ur face. thats when a headband comes in useful. i dont have one unfortunatly. but i risk looking like some taiwanese boyband dude.. ahhaha

Now and again I've had a go and putting it down low to look cool but you know what, it doesn't really matter.. As long as it sounds good, it's all good.

But other than that, I have found that for some reason, I have begun to enjoy playing it somewhere at the waist level. It used to be hard to play but for some reason, it's become easier. I haven't been "practising" or anything.

As what some of the bros have mentioned.. It's about what suits you.

I feel more comfortable with my guitar slung low, but when shredding (I rarely do this) I prefer it slung higher. But not too high because it can cause injuries (a friend of mine developed a wrist injury).

I guess you can go as low as you want, but you gotta practice that position and posture. You gotta practice standing at home, in your room bro, practice till you find it comfortable to strum, pluck, pick and run you fingers up-and-down the fretboard. But I bet many of us practice sitting down at home.

But naturally, waist level should be the ideal position like many of softies here...including me. It sets you up nicely.
